You Need a Credit Card to Post on the IMDB (International Movie Data Base) Website?? WTF??
That or be linked to your Amazon.Com account.\

What kind of shit is this?
- Whatchu talkin'' ''bout, OP?

- Yeah, they''re the worst message boards on the Internet and they have the highest barrier to entry, it''s weird. I look forward to my future Senatorial campaign being derailed when they connect my bank account to the time I was writing a paper drunk in college and decided that taking a break to troll the IMDB Mac and Me forum was a vital part of my process
- That''s a new way to discourage spammers (and fangurls who scream KEANU IS NOT GAY!!).
- Register a new account and they make you link to a credit card or Amazon account. Try it.
- Assume you mean Internet (not International) Movie Database? Or are there 2 sites with those initials?
- One in the same, R5.
- Amazon was doing that back when it first bought the IMDb. I submitted shit to the IMDb for years, but when that guy in the UK sold it to Amazon, I went a decade without submitting ANYTHING because of the policy. Finally, a ridiculous mistake made me sign up just to correct it, but they wouldn''t take my submission. It took 6 months and 2 posts to their "help" boards to get the mistake corrected. ONE mistake. The IMDb is as bad as Wikipedia, I swear.
don''t get me started on the IMDb
- Only for new people. People who were there before the change in policy did not and do not have to give any CC info.
- Yes but if you change your email address....
- Oh dear.
- First they came for the IMDB accounts...%0D\

and I was silent.
- I can''t STAND the forums on IMDB. Full of fangurls reaching for every excuse they can come up with to defend the actors they have crushes on to "prove" the actor in question is not gay. %0D\
%0D\
Bunch of sad freaks.
- IMDb has refused to list a feature film which exists, is of public interest, has been screened, was part of a film festival. has numerous cast and crew members with other credits, etc. for almost ten years. I was a producer and they refuse to list it. It''s not porn. It''s a feature length drama. They''ll list some random reality show person''s two seconds on another reality show but refuse to list a sag-franchised feature film.
- I''ve never given any credit card info to imdb. I''ve had an account for years; maybe that''s a new thing?\
\
If true, it sadly doesn''t keep the homophobes off those boards. It''s amazing how anti-gay the posters over there are. There was one guy posting about "Super 8" that couldn''t understand why people were offended he kept using the word "fag." He kept falling back on the freedom of speech/1st Amendment argument and yelling at other posters for reporting him as hateful.

May I ask what film? Does IMDb give a reason for refusing to list it?
- Homophobic, fangirly, and annoyingly race-obsessed. You can''t get through an attractive black person''s board without seeing an "Is s/he all black?" question, or a variation thereof. It''s as if they have to find the white in someone before they can justify finding them attractive.\
\
And the John Spencer board is just nauseating, as an example of the blinkered, "I''m not a homophobe, but I hope Actor X isn''t gay"/ "He''s not gay, he had a GIRLFRIEND!" attitude.
- First I didn''t know they had an international board. So thanks to this post I found out I can post there. Sorry OP. %0D\
%0D\
One question wouldn''t any movie be listed on the regular board? Whats the point in the international one. I know I''m slow forgive.
- OP, your problem is that you visited the International Movie Data Base and not the [bold]Internet[/bold] Movie Database. I''d say the "International Movie Data Base" is some sort of phishing scam.
- IMDB is full of trolls posting nonsense looking for a reaction. Many, if not all, are grown adults.\
\
When I go to IMDB it''s just to look up a date or cast list or title. I don''t bother with the MBs anymore.
- Much of the time, I can find better information at Wikipedia.
-
Most of the message boards on IMDB are filled with vile and hateful people condemning other groups of people they dont like or calling other posters ignorant or wrong. Most conversations devulge to attacks on religion, sexuality, or politics.
Never give your card #'s out in a non transaction format over the internet. Most likely nothing bad will happen, but if money were to be withdrawn IMDB would be in no way legally responsible for its recovery.
- The absolute worst IMDb board is the Politics board. It's full of vile idiots.
- IMDb is filled with idiots. Only YouTube has worse commenters.
-
Most conversations devulge to attacks on religion, sexuality, or politics.
So kinda like datalounge
- Let's tell it like it is: Only ignorant fools use the internet. The cool and classy people have walks in the park and feed the ducks while discussing Plato or Nietzsche.
We're all bottom feeders. Don't deny. It would embarrass you and me even more.
Now if you excuse me, a dear friend from Nigeria needs my assistance in a financial matter.
- I don't know which is more ridiculous: fangirls screaming "He's not gay" or gayboys screaming "He is gay".
Christ...
- Bump. Who gives their credit card or telephone number to talk about movies with a bunch of nimwits...
Oh wait.

- Remember the original imdb with the WashedUpdate?
- R25 While you're walking in the park, what aspect of Dana Plato's role on "Different Strokes" do you talk about?
-
he IMDb is as bad as Wikipedia, I swear.
Actually studies find Wikipedia was just as reliable as the Encyclopedia Britannica
- I don't find anything appealing about IMDB unless it's just for a source of information. A TV show's or film's cast. The bio. But for posting at the site, it's not remotely useful to me.
- R26, you nailed it! If you even remotely ask, which I have done in the past on the messages boards, if someone was gay, they simply ignore your post or the blast the hell out of you! Another common factor they'll say, its their business! Why do you ask if he or she is gay for! who cares! Then they'll have a thread about who is the actor or actress is dating or he or she is married to, which is more acceptable.
Here is a common response that is hilarious! He is not gay! he is dating this actress or he is married to this person, LOL!
Never ever remotely bring up Tyrone Power was gay or even bisexual on the Tyrone Power message board. They think its a major fifthly insult! and you will pay dearly for that one. They will use every excuse to claim he was 150% straight 8!
- R26
When gayboys scream "He's gay" is because is likely they have met that closeted singer or actor somewhere (private clubs, gay bars)
R32
These women are totally delusional and very easily fooled. If a celeb is suspected to be gay, the fangurls don't want to deal with it and hide behind "privacy" policy while if male celeb is suspected to be dating a woman, they'll toss privacy out of the window and try to dig up everything about her and them and talk it out till they are blue in face.
- LOL
The OP Is too poor to afford a credit card
