I became happy when I realized I didn't need a career, only a pay check.

(1) my gfriend thinks she sounds like the mcgarrigle sister and kate bush doing helium together in the girls' bathroom;
(2) she's dating "Dick in a box" Andy Samburg (i think).

R3 (1) - that's a good description. I agree, remarkable songwriter but ya gotta be in an accommodating mood for that voice.

I don't think she and Samberg are together anymore.

She owes her career to Bjork but exclaims that she has no idea why people think the two have such an eerily similar sound.%0D %0D Do not like.

(reminds me of the 70s.)

I hated her last album. Just so excruciatingly middle of the road and dull, almost adult contemporary folk.
Much prefered the strings and melodrama of Ys.

That's a VOICE? Think I'll start recording my cats and dog fighting!

I love her first album, The Milk Eyed Mender. Haven't heard the latest one.

I think she's one of our greatest living lyricists. The lyrics to things like Emily and Only Skin are incredible. Talented harpist as well. Shame about the voice, which I just can't get round.

I remember when "Bridges and Balloons" first came out and one of the radio stations here played it and the DJs could barely contain their laughter while it was playing. They then asked listeners to ring in and do their best imitation of her, and heaps of people did. I was driving a friend's boyfriend home at the time and we were laughing so much I nearly crashed the car.
Having said all that, I do really like "Sapokanikan".
