Mama Mia on TBS
The only actor who gets through this thing unscathed is Amanda Seyfried, with her saucer-sized eyes. She''s the real deal.
K. Hepburn- The Winner Takes It All!
- One of the worst movies ever.
- I''ve only seen approximately 5 minutes of it and I was completely shocked. I know it made a lot of money, but talk about a piece of shit. I like Meryl and I''m a closet Abba geek...however, some things are unforgivable.
- Fun movie, probably the definitive guilty pleasure.%0D\

- "One of the worst movies ever."\

It was a noble experiment -- letting a woman direct a movie.
- A lot of 2008 movies are finally making it to broadcast television. I thought the "dramatic" scene where Sarah Jessica Parker was jilted at the altar in the ''Sex and the City'' movie was hilarious.
- "Oh, I knew the critics were going to hate it, but we had a blast and got to be in Greece," said screen legend Streep, about to step into the large shoes of the original Rachael Ray, Julia Child, in "Julie & Julia." "One review I read said, ''she chewed the scenery like a darkie at a watermelon pit-spitting contest,''" she chuckled. "Where do they get that stuff?"\

Lila "the Real NY Jew" McKann
- Christine Baranski is tragically bad in this.
- Back off, gay bitches. I had house payments.
M.
- Colin Firth playing a gay man - my dream comes true!
- LMAO R5\
\
And M, maybe if your husband worked you wouldn''t have to support the household. Tell him "sculptor" isn''t a job, it''s a hobby for rich white women.
- uh yeah he has done it twice now.
- This would have been a great pick for the thread "Great Moments of Dialogue-less Acting", if only the whole movie had been dialogue-less.
- If I were making a movie musical, I would pick a male lead (who has 3 songs, no less) who could sing.\
\
But that''s just me.
- I loved this movie, it was fun, campy and had a great cast. Worst movie ever? I think not.

Same here. It''s my guilty pleasure. In a world where "The Hangover" exists, one can hardly say that "Mama Mia" is the worst movie ever.
- Cheesy movie. I think the real ''star'' is the setting (the Greek Isles). Sort of makes me want to ditch my cubicle life and drink ouzo all day.
- It''s a harmless pleasant feel good movie.
- At least they had the good sense to cut "Knowing Me, Knowing You", which is the Brosnan character''s big solo in the stage play....

I agree, but I did like that little Michael Jackson dance during the "Does Your Mother Know?" number.
- It is a dreadful and very amateurish effort. \
\
Jennifer Saunders did a flawless spoof on how bad Meryl Streep was:

- At the 3 minute mark, a WONDERFUL send-up on how bad Meryl Streep''s acting is in this movie:

- I thought Baranski was one of the highlights, it is clear she is camping it up.
- "it is clear she is camping it up"\
\
That''s sorta fun when you best faghag does it in community theater, but not on the big screen.
- I think it''s worth sitting through this movie to see once again how brilliant French and Saunders are.
- It''s also really clear in the film that Meryl preferred working with Julie Walters to Baranski; but Baranski really liked Meryl. The feeling just wasn''t mutual.\
\
Watch the body language when all 3 are together...
- It''s grown on me. I was appalled at how bad it was when I first saw it.%0D\

Now it is just fun.
- Amanda Seyfried was FIRED from both AMC & ATWT
- Christine Baranski needs to eat a steak and baked potato. It was painful looking at those little sticks she has as arms and legs and her breastplate sticking out.
- Cher was offered Baranski''s role, but she had to decline due to scheduling problems.
- I liked it. But, then I really didn''t expect a movie based on a frothy stage play based on songs of ABBA would be some great epic musical that would garner raves from the critics. Meryl looked great, seemed to be having fun with her co-stars and entertained me. Which is all that I really want from a movie like this one.%0D\

Plus, that boyfriend that Colin Firth''s character got at some point was very hot. Another plus.

\
Since R28 was too lazy to spell it all out, can someone tell me what AMC and ATWT stand for?
- r32- All My Children and As the World Turns.\
\
\
\
Aren''t you sorry that you asked?
- Thanks, r33. I am.
- tbs should be ashamed for playing that movie hopefully never again
- What got me was the tiny church at the end, which is huge when they are all inside it ....
and we barely see the hunky guy Colin Firth bags, they probably didn't want to make too gay in case it upset all the fraus and kiddies.
