Just published this month, more interesting than one would expect.
He admits to cheating on first wife Robin Strasser quite often, including several sexual encounters with men.
His second marriage to Lucie Arnaz has been rocky at times and he had a very contentious relationship with mother-in-law Lucille Ball.
He devotes many pages to the stage and film productions of The Boys in the Band.
His account of the filming of “Such Good Friends” and the rantings of director Otto Preminger is hilarious.
He was on the short list for “Get Smart”, but lost the role of Maxwell Smart to Don Adams.
Now nearly 90, he’s fully aware his time is limited.

A reasonable, real world figure. And by comfortable life, I mean you can pay your bills, go on a couple of trips a year, have good healthcare, live where you want, and not worry about any sort of emergency. Plus, you don't have to be retirement age.
I'm curious about what the range of numbers will be.

Believes the allegations are the result of Mia Farrow’s brainwashing.
Bill Maher went in hard for Woody Allen, saying flatly he doesn't believe the sexual abuse allegations and thinks actors who won't work with him are "pu**ies."
Bill was chatting it up with Katie Couric on his 'Club Random' podcast when Allen's name came up. Maher said, "I respect the artist and the man," and then he bore in on the long-standing allegations that Allen sexually abused Dylan, his adopted daughter when she was 7.
Bill believes the story was engineered by Mia Farrow to gain an advantage in their bitter divorce, saying Farrow was motivated by vindictiveness.
As Maher sees it, "If you saw the documentary about it, it was all from her point of view. So first of all, I just flat-out believe him. I believe a 57-year-old man didn’t suddenly become a child molester in the middle of a divorce proceeding and a custody battle in a house full of adults in broad daylight."
Katie challenged him, saying there was "some pretty damning" evidence, including Allen's desire for his girlfriends to "dress up in little anklets and Mary Janes and baby doll dresses."
Bill's response, "Do you think he’s the only guy who likes that? Do you think he's the first guy who wanted his girlfriend to dress in anklets and baby doll [dresses]?"
As Maher sees it, "That's what we grew up on, that’s what we find sexy."
Allen, who married Mia's adopted daughter Soon-Yi Previn, has never been charged with a crime and denied all the allegations.

WASHINGTON — White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre acknowledged Thursday that President Biden’s maternal uncle, Ambrose Finnegan, actually died when his plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean during World War II — and that he wasn’t eaten by cannibals, as Biden implied on two separate occasions Wednesday.
Jean-Pierre told reporters aboard Air Force One that the 81-year-old president was merely expressing how “incredibly proud” he was of Finnegan when Biden suggested New Guinea natives had eaten him in 1944.
“You saw the president, he was incredibly proud of his uncle’s service in uniform. You saw him at the war memorial. It was incredibly emotional and important to him,” Jean-Pierre said en route to Philadelphia, where Biden was making his third consecutive day of campaign visits to the Keystone State.
“You saw him respond to all of you when asked about the moment yesterday and his uncle, who lost his life when the military aircraft he was on crashed in the Pacific after taking off near New Guinea.”
The press secretary cut short follow-up questions, citing the presidential plane’s approach to the Philadelphia airport.
Biden indicated that cannibals finished off Finnegan after visiting a Scranton, Pa., war memorial that bears his uncle’s name.
“He got shot down in an area where there were a lot of cannibals at the time. They never recovered his body, but the government went back when I went down there and they checked and found some parts of the plane,” Biden told reporters in Scranton, where he was born and lived off and on until he was 10 years old.
Later Wednesday, Biden told steelworkers in Pittsburgh that Ambrose Finnegan “got shot down in New Guinea and they never found the body because there used to be — there were a lot of cannibals, for real, in that part of New Guinea.”
The official US military account of Finnegan’s death, referenced by Jean-Pierre, contradicts the president’s story.
“For unknown reasons, this plane was forced to ditch in the ocean off the north coast of New Guinea. Both engines failed at low altitude, and the aircraft’s nose hit the water hard,” the Pentagon’s Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency says.
“Three men failed to emerge from the sinking wreck and were lost in the crash. One crew member survived and was rescued by a passing barge. An aerial search the next day found no trace of the missing aircraft or the lost crew members.”
Biden has a long history of telling provably false personal anecdotes, or dubious tales for which there is no documentation, in an attempt to connect to his audiences — in this case, Pennsylvania voters who could determine the outcome of his bid for a second term against former President Donald Trump.

Eldergays, have you adjusted your daily routine based upon the threat of crime or violence? For myself I have a 9:00 p.m. cut off for leaving the house unless it's a pre-planned thing. If I'm going into the city I always shoot to go in the morning earlier than 11:00 a.m. if possible. I no longer take public transportation. It would be very rare for me to attend any large festival style event with thousands of people gathered in one place . I know it's a recipe for loneliness but self preservation is key. What adjustments have you made? I live in a relatively safe suburban area 8 Miles away from a city known for its crime and violence.

I have only seen him in two Danny McBride vehicles - Vice Principal Lee Russell in "Vice Principals" and the unforgettable snake oil salesman and revival tent preacher "Baby Billy" in The Righteous Gemstones. But OMG he is an amazing actor! Incredible timing, so fucking funny, bold and brave, and also brings a lot of heart and empathy to even the weirdest and most obnoxious of characters. I'm OBSESSED. And he's scorching hot, once you get used to his whole deal! He's sexy as hell.

There are five Ripley novels and some have been made into movies with actors of different ages.
Andrew Scott is 47, which pushes some viewers' panties into a moist, acrid bunch.

The Goldman’s have always insisted that there was nothing going on between the two, and that they barely knew each other. But I’m pretty sure something was going on. She had a sultry bath drawn the night that she was killed, and she knew that he was on his way over to drop off those keys. It seems likely that she planned to attempt to seduce him at the very least. Nothing wrong with that. But it makes you wonder what happened in the run up to the murders. I guess we’ll never know.

School administrators in New Jersey are warning parents about another concerning social-media challenge that can put kids in danger.
Lynn Irby Hill, the principal at the South Orange Middle School in South Orange, sent out a letter to parents Tuesday about the "blackout challenge" becoming popular on TikTok.
The challenge involves students holding their breath until they pass out and there have been deaths reported as a result of kids participating in the challenge.
"These incidents are very scary and very avoidable. We will continue to warn our students about the dangers of the 'blackout challenge' and most, if not all, challenges promoted on social media," Hill said in the letter.
The school reported two incidents of students passing out.
Aid was rendered to one of the students by the school's nursing staff while the other had to be transported to the hospital after having difficulty breathing once they regained consciousness.
Hill asked parents to help by discussing the dangers associated with the social media challenge with their children at home.

Seafood restaurant chain Red Lobster is mulling a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing as it looks to restructure its debt, according to people with knowledge of the matter.
Red Lobster has been getting advice from law firm King & Spalding, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing a private matter. The dining chain is considering a possible Chapter 11 filing to shed some long-term contracts and renegotiate a swath of leases, the people said.
Red Lobster's cash flows have been weighed down by onerous leases and labor costs, among other issues. Restructuring discussions are ongoing and a final decision hasn't been made, they said. Filing for bankruptcy would allow the company to keep operating while it works on a debt-cutting plan.
Messages left with Red Lobster and King & Spalding were not returned.

He's rarely discussed here. I STILL think not one actor in Hollywood has come close to his charisma. There are/were more handsome actors (and better actors too) but no one that just shined on screen like he did. He was just crazy charismatic. So much so that he is half of my 2 favorite movie couples of all time.
He also seemed like a really nice guy and is one of the few old Hollywood people that is super hard to hear one bad word about. His female co stars seemed to love him.
I'm surprised they haven't done a biopic of him yet (not saying I'd want it).

How things have changed. After being in power a goodly number of years like Mr. Trudeau, Jean Chrétien faced enormous pressure to step down from his party – though rather than being 20 points behind, he was about 20 ahead!
The passivity of the party, a Chrétien cabinet minister told me yesterday, is amazing, given that Mr. Trudeau, fresh off another scandal – the ArriveCan one – seems beyond salvation.
[italic]But that former minister doesn’t believe Mr. Trudeau will stay. He predicted he will step down at the end of this month, because it will mark exactly 40 years since his father Pierre Trudeau took his famous walk in the snow and announced his retirement.[/italic]
Such a departure is not beyond the realm of possibility. But most Liberals will tell you that since no one is pushing him, Justin Trudeau will hold on as long as possible, in the hopes that his support numbers will recover and he can make another run for the crown.

I would like to share my thoughts on the documentary "Garden," released in 2003, which remains a poignant portrayal of the challenges faced by young gay Palestinians. The film offers a compelling insight into the struggles and dangers that accompany their journey. Despite its release over two decades ago, "Garden" continues to serve as a relevant and important exploration of the experiences of gay Palestinian men in navigating their identities and relationships.
NOTE: I attended a film festival where I watched this movie years ago. Here's a link to the full film, which I discovered through a Google search. While I'm uncertain about the website's content, it appears to offer free access to the movie.

He grew up in Kilgore, Texas to an oil man. Soon outgrowing his small East Texas hometown, he debuted with the Houston Symphony Orchestra at age12. He then attended Julliard, where he mastered the Russian classics under Rosina Lhévinne.
In 1958, at 22 and the height of the Cold War, he outplayed the entire world with Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 and Rachmaninov's 3rd Piano Concerto at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. With his otherworldly playing, he became classical music royalty, making life-long friends along the way, from Sergei Rachmaninov to Helmut Kohl to Christopher Reeve to Condoleezza Rice.
An old school southern gentleman through and through, he founded an International Piano Competition in Fort Worth, helping many young pianists find their way. Let's discuss the American pianist Van Cliburn.

I’m in need of (hopefully constructive) advice. I’m mid-forties and extremely overweight. Since the beginning of Covid lockdown in 2020, my weight has shot up, and my activity level has plummeted.
I’ve only recently realised how seriously unhealthy I am. Even just walking exhausts me. I get breathless and in pain. I need to change or I doubt I’ll see my 50th birthday.
I’m addressing my diet and cutting refined carbs, and I’m thinking about joining a gym, even though the thought of being seen exercising mortifies me.
Does anyone have any experience of taking those first steps from a sedentary lifestyle to an active lifestyle? How did you start? How do I start?
It’s a Monday morning in March, and Danny Lavery is up first to quietly bake the bread he proofed the night before and to walk the two little dogs Maxim Casaubon Lavery (goes by Bon Bon) and Huckleberry Rigaud Lavery (prefers Gogo). […] Lily has a number of projects to attend to, but at the forefront is gestating the household’s baby. Waiting for a baby here mostly entails talking. “When I say we hope that the baby will be gay, I think maybe we’re all saying that we hope the baby will have an aesthetic life,” says Lily later as we curl up on the couch in their Brownstone Brooklyn living room. “I don’t know if you guys agree with that or not.” “I’m just picturing a little Bob Newhart baby,” Danny says. “Oh!” Grace says, then realizes, relieved. “I was thinking of Bob Ross.”
[…]
Danny met Grace, an academic, in 2015 […] In 2019, he turned 33, married Grace, took her last name, and broke contact with his family, publicly holding his pastor father to account for choices you’d never want your pastor to make. As now perhaps the most famous trans couple of a certain slice of literary America, they decamped abruptly from California to New York.
[…]
A year after the Lavery wedding, Grace met Lily online. Lily was teaching art history at Michigan State and — by her account — “reading Killing Eve fan fiction and masturbating.” They fell for each other. Eventually, Lily came to visit Grace in the city […] Two things led to another, or one thing led to two others. “I didn’t want to read more fan fiction,” Lily says. “I wanted my life to resemble fan fiction.” […] Eventually, Lily moved in. […] yes, they all sleep in the same bed. It also doesn’t seem particularly large.
[...]
They planned to name this baby Rochbert “Rocco” Ozymandias Wolverine, though they wanted to get a peek at him first to be sure.
[…]
Because Grace and Lily were intimate first, and because they’re all living and working together in a floor-through, one-bathroom apartment, Lily and Danny were a bit on tiptoes together, even into the pregnancy. Then they had their first good fight in December — over recycling! “There were ways in which I still felt like you and I would sometimes be on our ‘company manners’ around each other,” Danny says. “I think the outcome has been really positive,” Lily says. “I’m really sorry we had to go through my being a dick,” Danny says. This is their method. Danny describes it as “lesbian dominant” with an asterisk: “I don’t mean that in the sense of we’re dominant lesbians. I just mean we all have enough of a background in lesbianism and the processing of the lesbian school, which not all lesbians do, or have to do, or should do, but which does exist. I think we all like it. There will absolutely, I’m sure, come a day when our son is like, ‘I went over to someone else’s house and they don’t fucking do this all day. I didn’t know you could live with such beautiful quiet.’ Maybe that will be one of the ways in which heterosexuality will reintroduce itself back to our home.”
Surely this has been posted already, but I did a search and came up empty

NPR has suspended a veteran editor who wrote an essay criticizing the public broadcaster for having what he described as a lack of politically diverse viewpoints.
Uri Berliner, an award-winning business journalist who has worked at the network for 25 years, will be off the job for five days without pay. Berliner acknowledged the suspension Monday in an interview with National Public Radio. He did not respond to The Times’ request for comment.
The suspension came after Berliner put a harsh spotlight on NPR with an April 9 opinion piece for the Substack newsletter the Free Press. He said the decline in NPR’s audience levels is due to a move toward liberal political advocacy and catering to “a distilled worldview of a very small segment of the U.S. population.” The overall thrust of the piece asserted that NPR has “lost America’s trust.”
An NPR representative said the network “does not comment on individual personnel matters, including discipline. We expect all of our employees to comply with NPR policies and procedures, which for our editorial staff includes the NPR Ethics Handbook.”
Berliner was told by management last week that he violated company policy by failing to secure its approval to supply work for other news outlets, according to an NPR news report by media correspondent David Folkenflik. Berliner was informed that he will be fired if he violates that policy again.
On Monday, conservative activists resurfaced years old social media posts by current NPR Chief Executive Katherine Maher, in which she expressed her disdain for former President Trump. In one 2020 post, she called Trump a racist.
Maher took on her NPR role in January. She previously headed the nonprofit Wikimedia Foundation, which operates Wikipedia, and has no previous experience in journalism. NPR has said Maher was not in an editorial role at the foundation when she made the social media posts, adding that she “is entitled to free speech as a private citizen.”

What exactly happened between Rosie O'Donnell and Boy George back in 2003-04 ? She invested $10M in a Broadway musical production of BG's "Taboo", which bombed at the box office and lasted two months (November - January). She lost every penny. He blamed her for the failure, she blamed him and it ended their friendship. O'Donnell said (when it closed) she intended to bring it back in the future (she hasn't).
Does anyone have any stories of what went on back then ? Any 'behind the curtain' tea to spill ? Did anyone here see the show ? Was it as bad as the reviews said it was ?
Here's an interview she did on 'The View' before it opened. She was very excited about the production and her new BFF Boy George.

Brazilian teen stabs teacher to death, wounds five others at school
SAO PAULO, March 27 (Reuters) - A teacher in Brazil has died after a 13-year-old student stabbed her alongside three other teachers and two classmates at a public school in Sao Paulo city, state Secretary of Public Safety Guilherme Derrite said on Monday.
The teenager has been taken to a police station to be interrogated in the company of his parents.
The other teachers affected are not at risk and the injuries to students were minor, said Sao Paulo's Secretary of Education, Renato Feder, who added a three-day mourning period will be declared in honor of the teacher who died.
Feder said it is too early to speculate on the motive for the attack and that police will investigate.
Military police would typically have rescued the teacher via helicopter but, as she was in cardiac arrest, the rescue had to take place by land and she passed away, Derrite told journalists outside the school where the attack happened in the west of Sao Paulo.
A physical education teacher at the school restrained the student, preventing him from injuring others.
"It was a heroic act," Derrite said. "She was the one who restrained the attacker and made sure that the knife was taken away from him. If it wasn't for this teacher's heroic action, this tragedy would certainly have been much greater," he said.

Maulik Pancholy’s appearance at Mountain View Middle School in Mechanicsburg was unanimously overturned by the district’s school board in an 8-0 vote.
Openly gay actor Maulik Pancholy was disinvited from speaking at a middle school anti-bullying assembly after concerns were raised about his political activism and what two school board members called his “lifestyle.”
Pancholy’s scheduled appearance at Mountain View Middle School in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, was unanimously overturned by the district’s school board in a public meeting on April 15.
“If you research this individual, he labels himself as an activist, he is proud of his lifestyle and I don’t think that should be imposed upon our students at any age,” board member Bud Shaffner said at the meeting.
Trisha Comstock, a former parent at the school, started a Change.org petition to reinstate the empathy and anti-bullying assembly.
“What happened is homophobic. Anyone can go and watch the meeting,” Comstack tells TODAY.com. “This board is close to causing some real harm.”
Board member Kelly Potteiger raised concerns that Pancholy, 50, would discuss his children’s book “The Best at It,” which is about a gay Indian American boy.
“It’s not discriminating against his lifestyle — that’s his choice,” Potteiger said in the meeting. “But it’s him speaking about it.”
Pancholy played the character Jonathan, Alex Baldwin’s devoted assistant, in the sitcom “30 Rock,” and also voiced the character Baljeet in “Phineas and Ferb.”
Pancholy’s presentation on anti-bullying at Mountain View Middle School was canceled by an 8-0 vote. TODAY.com has reached out to Pancholy for comment.
Brooke Ryerson, an LGBTQ high school sophomore, attended Mountain View Middle School. Ryerson and her mom plan to express their disappointment at the next board meeting on May 6.
“It was going to be an assembly about empathy and anti-bullying,” Ryerson, 16, tells TODAY.com. “But that doesn’t matter to the board. They want to silence us in any way they can.”
The “us” that Ryerson is referring to is the gay community.
“They’re sending that message that they don’t want our identities in the school,” Ryerson says. “I’m lucky that I have such accepting friends and family, but it’s gotta be devastating for the kids who don’t and now feel even more like they’re not wanted somewhere.”
How the school board decided
According to Pancholy’s website, the award-winning author delivers keynotes on the topic of “diversity and inclusion.” Pancholy is a self-described activist and served on President Barack Obama’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
Shaffner tells TODAY.com in a phone interview that he had concerns that Pancholy would “go off script” and talk about politics.
“Politically motivated discussions belong at home and not in the classroom,” Shaffner says. “A number of board members went to his website and what stuck out to all of us is that he’s a political activist.”

“As you know, my son has graduated from high school, and it looks like the judge will not let me go through the graduation of my son, who's worked very, very hard. Around the same time, someone (perhaps the same scammer) requested an Uber package pickup at the old man's house. The job was claimed by 61 year-old Lo-Letha Hall, who showed up minutes later to pick up the package she was sent to retrieve. When she arrived, Old Fart pulled an ancient pistol on her, accusing her of being in cahoots with the scammers. He grabbed her phone and held her at gunpoint. When she tried to flee back to her car, he blew her away. The whole thing was captured on the woman's dashcam.
He's being charged with murder, and will likely spend the rest of his life in prison. Senile degenerate.
Somebody needs to take phones away from old fucks. And driver's licenses. And handguns. Just put them in nice little morgue drawers and let them wait out the inevitable without killing normal people.

Lucky Joseph Vanous was born on April 11, 1961 in Lincoln, Nebraska. At 18 he joined the Army and served as a 1st Ranger Battalion. When he was discharged he decided to go to the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, studying political science and history. While on a break he decided to visit NYC for the first time with a friend, where his life would change. This was the 1980s.
While walking around and exploring NYC for the first time, he was spotted by an agent for Elite Modeling Agency who rushed over to him, approaching him about his beauty and offered him a contract on the spot. He obliged and signed the contract on the spot, becoming one of the new faces for the agency. He then left college in Nebraska and moved to NYC.
His very first gig was for GQ Magazine and being shot by legendary photographer Francesco Scavullo. Shortly after he began booking big gigs in Europe, leading him to move to Europe and travel around Europe while also working. His new career as a model allowed him to travel and explore the world. Later he would do the same with Asia, before moving back to NYC and deciding to continue his college career. He entered NYU and then Fordham University to finish his studied before landing the campaign that would change his life and earn him a lot of money.
In 1994 Lucky landed a Diet Coke campaign that would have his face on hundreds of millions of homes around the world, and lead to a series of commercials and print ads. This campaign led him to drop out of college a second time and he never finished. His coke ads are some of the most successful for Coke, with them even having him travel around the states and Europe to promote Coke products.
After all his success with Coke commercials, he caught the acting bug and decided to wanted to try out acting. Unlike many models who just jump into acting head on, he decided to take it seriously and studied acting, scene studies and speech with some of the best coaches in NYC and LA. He landed some guests roles on sitcoms and soaps before Aaron Spelling cast him as a lead on “Pacific Palasides” on FOX in 1998, a series that didn’t last. After that he landed another series called “18 Wheels of Justice”, which aired from 2000-2001 on cable. He did a few film appearances and stepped away from acting in 2005 and started working in the world of fitness.
Lucky was lucky in the genetic lottery and living a charmed life. He is now in his 60s.

One of the most notorious cars in history could be up for auction in the coming months, as OJ Simpson's Ford Bronco could hit the market soon.
Following the death of the 76-year-old last week, the owners of the white Ford Bronco used in the 1994 police chase in Los Angeles could go under the hammer.
Michael Gilbert, OJ Simpson's former agent, and two friends of Al Cowlings, the original owner, are the current owners and have spoken on their intention to sell.

Taste is subjective, but I'd argue that Streisand's vocals lift "Memory" from Cats gently off the dungheap of Webber's entire output and give it the haunting, storm-battered quality it absolutely does not deserve.

I originally posted my thread when my body and mind felt so run down and I knew I couldn't continue going on the way I was. It took me a few days to stop drinking after posting my original thread.
I've not attended any AA meetings (online or in person), and you guys are the only people who know I stopped a month ago. My best friend, who knew I fell off the wagon late last year, thought I quickly regained my footing and stopped drinking around the time by dog died. I don't know if i'll ever tell anyone it took me 4 months to get over my dog dying and everything else that happened last year before I picked myself up and dusted myself off. Maybe one day.
I've lost about 6 pounds, but besides taking walks a few days of the week, I haven't been too serious about it (haven't counted calories or gotten disciplined about exercising). I've had no real cravings, although living in "wine country" I'm constantly confronted with billboards about this or that wine or a local winery or event. Yesterday I saw that talked about a winery's cabernet and I did get a teeny feeling of longing, like missing an old friend, but I quickly put it away. I have to treat this like somebody I knew died and they aren't coming back again. That was the only time I've felt that in the last 30 days.
My work has improved, and I finally bought my new car this past Saturday - a 2020 Nissan Rogue with (almost) all of the comfort features I wanted. I've done a lot of work on my yard and have been enjoying my new puppy. I've definitely been eating better and started my boss and myself on smoothies for lunch a few times a week (made in our office).
Life is more calm. More improvement is needed of course, but I feel better. Certainly my gastric issues have cleared up. Although right now I'm on Day 8 of a cold/sore throat I caught having to serve jury duty for 3 days about a week and a half ago. Being stuffed into a room with about 100 people 3 days in a row is bound to do that to you.
To anyone who is in the middle of quitting drinking or contemplating it, feel free to add to the discussion here. This is a place for anyone to chime in if needed. You can do it - I did it (again) and you can too. Do whatever you need to do to stop killing yourself slowly.
thanks to everyone here whether they've commented or not. You all have been an important part of this journey. Happy Wednesday!

When an Afghan national on the FBI terrorist watchlist was arrested last Thursday after having spent nearly a year in the U.S., immigration officials said he had been enrolled in a program that tracked his location via ankle monitor, mobile app or telephone.
But the man's participation in the monitoring program, known as Alternatives to Detention, lasted only a little over two weeks, NBC News has learned.
Mohammad Kharwin, 48, is believed to have then spent 10 months in the U.S. without any kind of monitoring system, according to sources familiar with his case.
The national terrorist watchlist indicates Kharwin is a member of Hezb-e-Islami, or HIG, an Afghanistan-based political and paramilitary group that the U.S. has designated a terrorist organization.
HIG was responsible for attacks in Afghanistan that killed at least nine American soldiers and civilians from 2013 to 2015. The group is not seen as a top threat in terms of attacks inside the U.S.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Homeland Security Department officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

This could be very good or very bad.
Some very good camp performances have come from actors not naturally inclined to it (Bruce Willis in “Death Becomes Her”, Matthew McConaughey in “Magic Mike”, Guy Pearce in “Priscilla”) who cannot really calibrate the subtleties, so they close their eyes, slam their foot on the pedal and hope to reach 100 mph without killing anybody. It works or it doesn’t (if anyone can think of any in the latter category, I haven’t had coffee yet.)
The movie also stars Alex Pettyfer in his seventh or eighth comeback role, Cary Elwes who does nothing but camp these days (and is very good at it), and Alan Ritchson’s calves.

Brad Pitt is likely reuniting with Quentin Tarantino for the filmmaker’s 10th and ostensibly final feature, “The Movie Critic.” The status of the deal is unclear.
Tarantino has remained tight-lipped about “The Movie Critic,” but it’s reportedly set in southern California during the 1970s and center on a cynical film reviewer. It’s rumored to be inspired by the life of Pauline Kael, the late New Yorker writer who was one of the most influential film critics of her time.

Streisand announced this week she has recorded "Love Will Survive" for the last scene / end credits of the Peacock /Sky series ‘The Tattooist of Auschwitz’, a six part series which premieres May 2. Streisand said she wants the last scene 'to be memorable'.
“Because of the rise in antisemitism around the world today, I wanted to sing ‘Love Will Survive’ in the context of this series, as a way of remembering the six-million souls who were lost less than 80 years ago. And also to say that even in the darkest of times, the power of love can triumph and endure,” Streisand said in a statement.
The song “Love Will Survive” is produced by Walter Afanasieff and Peter Asher, with Streisand, Jay Landers and Russell Emanuel executive producing.

An internal RCMP report warns that a series of geopolitical and national threats — including climate change — will test the ability of governments and police services to protect Canadians in the coming years.
The "crises" rocking national and international affairs are likely to get worse over the next few years and could have a significant effect on the federal government and Canada's federal police force, says an internal report prepared for the RCMP.
The heavily redacted nine-page report looks at shifts "in the domestic and international environments that could have a significant effect on the Canadian government and the RCMP." Percival said it was written between March and December of 2022 "for situational awareness and to inform decision making".
Political polarization and resentment, coupled with the threat of an economic recession, will also present a challenge, the report predicts.
"The coming period of recession will also accelerate the decline in living standards that the younger generations have already witnessed compared to earlier generations," says the report.
"For example, 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝑪𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒅𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒔 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓 35 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒖𝒏𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆𝒍𝒚 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒖𝒚 𝒂 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒆. The fallout from this decline in living standards will be exacerbated by the fact that the difference between the extremes of wealth is greater now in developed countries than it has been at any time in several generations."
While the report says it covers geopolitical factors, references to geopolitical challenges appear to be among the passages redacted. Two pages of the report are entirely blank, with the exception of a picture of a globe.

I'm really loving it.
Jared the Bosun is hilarious and weird. He seems stoned most of the time.
Fraser is being an absolute cunt this season. What crawled up his tight ass? And why does he keep calling himself "Mother?"
At first I didn't like Cat, but after hearing her story, I feel bad for her. I'm almost forced to like her.
Barbie is a feisty Latina firecracker.
Not sure what's the trip with Xandi, but she's just odd.
Sunny is cute. She and Ben would make a nice couple, if Ben didn't keep throwing her under the bus.
Kyle is cute too. His Irish accent makes him better looking than he actually is, though.
Speaking of Kyle and Ben, I am LOVING the shots in their cabin, where they keep exposing their bare asses to each other (and us)! On the show, Ben comes across as a total womanizer, but I swear, something about him is very gay. I especially loved the scene where he was rubbing lotion all over Kyle's back - all the way down to his exposed ass!
And the French Chef. He's tres gay, even though he is trying to pretend that he's straight.
I loved his hilarious story about how he got married at 26. Then his uncle offered his wife a job on a yacht as a Stewardess, and she never contacted him again. So he said now it's just him and his cat. Rofl!! Honey, your wife knows you're gay!
This season is very entertaining.

The executor of O.J. Simpson’s estate says he will do “everything” in his power to keep the families of murder victims Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson from seeing payment of a $33.5 million wrongful death judgment that was granted to them by a jury in a California civil case in 1997.
“It’s my hope that the Goldmans get zero, nothing,” he said. “Them specifically. And I will do everything in my capacity as the executor or personal representative to try and ensure that they get nothing.”

As per the previous thread, I am still listening to Moby Dick, but not during chemotherapy, there are too many interruptions and I am enjoying the story far too much for stopping and starting. So it’s on my commute.
I wanted a big, easy to read saga to read over the holidays so I am rereading Gone With The Wind for the first time since childhood. Scarlett has less of Vivien Leigh’s devious intelligence, and Melanie isn’t a beatific and sickly sweet as per Olivia de Havilland but guileless, plucky and almost immature. The CNN weekly prime time talk show co-hosted by basketball loudmouth Charles Barkley and CBS morning star Gayle King has ended a six-month run that failed to produce ratings.
The weekly call-in show “King Charles,” which aired at 10 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesday nights failed to generate more viewers than reruns of the sitcom “Friends” and episodes of “South Park.”
It was the lowest-rated prime time weeknight series debut for CNN in at least a decade, according to Nielsen.
When the show launched in November, CNN said it planned to air it through the early spring.
Since debuting in November, “King Charles” viewership fell 20%. The first airing was watched by 500,000 total viewers and 139,000 in the advertiser-coveted 25-54 age demographic, according to Nielsen.
The show’s Jan. 31 episode failed to crack the 100,000 viewer threshold in the 25-54 demo — the first time it couldn’t reach the six-figure mark, Nielsen numbers show.
A CNN spokesperson said that the show was “a great addition to CNN’s lineup” and that the viewership was among “the youngest, most affluent, and most diverse” audience in cable during its time slot.

Before he was 20 he lived in the American Middle West, New England, and London. By 30, he was a staple of the New York theater scene.
His life changed forever when in 1982 he was cast as the transgender Roberta in The World According to Garp, where he received his first Academy Award nomination. The next year, he played the mousy affair-seeking accountant in Terms of Endearment. His profile was further elevated in the 1980's with films such as The Twilight Zone, Footloose, and Harry and the Hendersons all the while receiving Tony nominations in M. Butterfly and Requiem for a Heavyweight.
Yet, he finally received international acclaim in the American situation comedy 3rd Rock from the Sun, the animated film Shrek, where he lent his rich Mid-Atlantic voice as the comically non-menacing Lord Farquaad, and The Crown, where he played Winston Churchill.
Despite notoriously avoiding politics for years, in 2020 he wrote a best selling book on the Trump and Trumpism. He said he couldn't keep silent anymore.

WASHINGTON – Vice President Kamala Harris called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza on Sunday, citing the immense suffering resulting from the Israel-Hamas War.
“Given the immense scale of suffering in Gaza, there must be an immediate ceasefire, at least for the next six weeks,” Harris said in Selma, Ala.
Harris' remarks were the most pointed statement yet by a member of the Biden administration on the need for an immediate pause in the fighting in Gaza.
President Joe Biden has been under immense pressure to demand a ceasefire in the five-month war, which started after Hamas militants stormed southern Israel on Oct. 7, killing about 1,200 people and taking 250 others hostage. Over 30,000 Palestinians have died in the war.
In Alabama, Harris called the situation in Gaza a “humanitarian catastrophe” and said Israel must do more to increase the flow of aid into the area.
"People in Gaza are starving," she said while marking the 59th anniversary of Bloody Sunday, when Alabama state troopers savagely clubbing peaceful civil rights marchers as they tried to cross the Edmund Pettus Bridge.
"The conditions are inhumane, and our common humanity compels us to act," she said.
At the same time, she said, "the threat that Hamas poses to the people of Israel must be eliminated."
The Biden administration said Saturday that Israel has essentially agreed to a six-week ceasefire that would include the release of hostages, but that Hamas to sign off on the deal.
The Israelis “have more or less accepted” the framework of a deal that would include a six-week ceasefire and the release of vulnerable hostages, including women, children and those who are elderly or wounded, said senior administration officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity.
But Hamas has yet to agree to the terms of the deal.
Biden has he hopes that a ceasefire deal can be in place by the start of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, which begins March 10.
Also Saturday, the U.S. began airdropping humanitarian aid into Gaza on Saturday, days after over 100 Palestinians were killed when witnesses said Israeli forces fired at people waiting for food in Gaza City.
U.S. Air Force C-130 cargo planes, along with Jordan's air force, conducted airdrops of humanitarian aid into Gaza for two hours, according to U.S. Central Command. The planes dropped over 38,000 meals along the coastline of Gaza allowing for civilian access to the critical aid.
Officials said the airdrops would make sure that food and other commodities get to people who need them and help prevent the looting that has plagued the delivery of goods into the region on the ground.

"Angie has kept to herself more than ever," a source spilled to RadarOnline. Although the Maleficent actress attended a White House State Dinner with her 21-year-old son Maddox earlier this month (and looked impeccable in an ivory Chanel dress, may we add) the insider revealed that she tries to keep public appearances to a minimum, saying: "It’s been a while since she’s been in front of so many cameras. She doesn’t get out much."
Another source said that Angelina's life has been like this for a while, saying: "She’s cut off people she’s worked with for years and no longer speaks to any family other than her kids. She has almost no one else left. Her life is very lonely." Another insider said that the mom-of-six briefly reconnected with her father Jon Voight, 84, after the divorce in 2016, but the two are now no longer in contact. She is also no longer speaking to her brother James Haven, 50, who the source said "was her touchstone for many years."
Yet another source told the pub that the Girl, Interrupted star's inner circle is small, and although she sometimes hangs out with co-stars such as Elle Fanning and Salma Hayek, she doesn’t have a deep connection with many other people. "She can come off as cold and guarded," the source said, adding that "she’s acknowledged that she’s not much of a girls’ girl."
Perhaps her desire to keep a low profile is also one of the reasons she stepped down from her role as a United Nations special envoy in December 2022, after more than two decades. Angelina's "lonely" life isn’t actually that surprising to learn about, as she confessed back in 2011 that the Babylon actor and their children were the only people she really hung out with. "I don’t have a lot of friends, Brad really is the only person I talk to," she said at the time.
And back in 2019, a separate insider told The Sun Online that Angelina was just focused on spending time with her six children, but craves companionship as she "has no-one." Seems like not much has changed then!
"With work, she will only take projects that her kids can be involved in – or that means she doesn't somehow lose out on time with them. All her energy is spent on them," The Sun's source continued at the time, adding that she "doesn’t have a lot of friends to talk to," and "has work colleagues but almost no close friends." The source also said: "She knows that Brad dates – even the kids mention it – but she does not."
None of the recent sources have mentioned the billionaire heir David Mayer de Rothschild she was spotted having lunch with back in March, nor did anyone say anything about her rumored past romance with The Weeknd.
Another source did, however, tell RadarOnline: "I am sure she misses companionship. But I don’t think she is eager to commit herself fully again. Angie used to have such a vibrant, adventurous spirit, but her light has really dimmed in the past few years. Hopefully, in time she’ll be open to dating and having fun again. Her kids just want to see her be truly happy again." We also hope that the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider star will be able to move on from her divorce and find happiness!

I had no idea that there were still so many men who were ok with having sex in public restrooms, rest stops, department store dressing rooms, and parks. I know I'm in Flyoverstan where most gay men are over 200 pounds and half of them are married to women but still it's pathetic and sad. I'm fine staying home with my self respect and dead eyes doll collection.

The original Fallout games which came out in the late 90s had excellent storytelling, but the modern entries have left much to be desired. That being said, the setting and world itself has always been compelling in the games. The universe of Fallout is an alternate timeline of Earth's history. It's a retrofuturist world with a 1950s sci-fi aesthetic. i asked chat gpt to summarize the setting to make it easier.
'In the Fallout universe, an alternate history unfolds where the world diverged from ours after World War II, adopting a retrofuturistic aesthetic centered around atomic technology. The United States and China become embroiled in a resource war, escalating into a devastating conflict. The Great War of 2077 culminates in a nuclear apocalypse, transforming the world into a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Vault-Tec, a pre-war corporation, constructs underground vaults to shelter select citizens from the devastation.'
vault-tec is a company that built nuclear survival shelters all across the usa, but most of them are actually designed to be cruel social experiments with human guinea pigs. Most of the games have you leaving a vault to explore and interact with the outside post-apocalyptic world - with humans trying to rebuild society amongst mutants and monsters created by radiation. The games are highly acclaimed and Fallout is considered to be one of the greatest franchises in gaming history. fallout 1, 2, and new vegas are particularly known for good writing.

I recently came across an obituary that was stretching the truth to say the least. It described the man as a “pillar of the community” and well known to important businessmen. The man had a tire shop and sold tires to local companies for their machinery. My eyes could not have rolled back into my head any harder.
Have you come across obituaries that are stretching the truth or outright fabrications?

And recalling the two scenes that affected me the most as a little kid when I saw it for the first time: most upsetting was the amputation scene, which was just traumatizing. Almost as upsetting was the scene where the women are staying up all night when the men lead the raid on the Shantytown, and the atmosphere is so tense, and Melanie starts reading David Copperfield aloud. I remember imagining what it might be like to find yourself in a tense situation and on top of all the tension, someone would start reading David Copperfield aloud… that really worried me.

Kathy Griffin has hired a professional sleuth to track down her estranged husband after failing to serve him divorce papers.
The former “Fashion Police” co-host enlisted a private investigator to locate Randy Bick after she kicked him out of her Los Angeles mansion, but even he couldn’t find the marketing executive, according to court documents obtained by Page Six.
“[Bick] left the former family residence at [Griffin’s] request and has not been in contact with her or told him where he is residing or staying,” the documents state.
“[Griffin] retained the services of a Private Investigator to serve [Bick], but this too has been unsuccessful. [Griffin] will make further attempts to locate Respondent and will now take steps to enter his default.”
Though the stand-up comedian has been unable to locate Bick, he has been actively posting on X as recently as Tuesday.
Bick didn’t immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
Griffin, 63, filed for divorce from Bick, 46, in December — just days before their fourth wedding anniversary. She listed the date of separation as Dec. 22, 2023, and cited irreconcilable differences as the cause of the split.
Her dissolution filing also revealed that the “My Life on the D-List” alum and Bick signed a prenuptial agreement on Dec. 23, 2019, just nine days before they said “I do” in a surprise New Year’s Day ceremony.
“Well…s–t. This sucks,” she tweeted shortly after the news of her divorce made headlines.

A couple of months ago I predicted the movie was going to get shelved because the writers/actors strike pushed the start date too close to a potential Warner Bros. acquisition date and that whoever bought the movie studio would want a fresh DC slate.
That didn’t happen and the movie went into production but they just announced character actor Pruitt Taylor Vince is cast as Jonathan Kent. Glenn Ford played it in the Donner film and Kevin Costner in the Snyder film.
Look at the cast list for the movie. None of these people are famous other than Hoult, Brosnahan and Gunn’s friend Nathan Fillion. Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, Wendell Pierce, Isabela Merced, Edi Gathegi, María Gabriela de Faría, Anthony Carrigan.
This movie has had its budget SEVERELY REDUCED. It is being made on a shoestring. It’s even being shot on the cheap with Atlanta standing in for Metropolis (Superman was shot in New York, Superman Returns in Sydney and Man of Steel in Chicago.). Given what David Zaslav did to Coyote Vs. Acme, he may not even have any intention of releasing it. If it was going to be released theatrically, it would need a fortune in vfx work (Man of Steel cost $225 million) and if they are willing to spend that much money then they probably would have bothered to cast the film with famous people. Even Gunn’s own Guardians of the Galaxy assembled a stellar cast including Glenn Close, Djimon Honsou and Benicio del Toro and that was untested IP. It’s unfathomable that a studio tentpole of such important IP would fill its cast with no-names.
This has actually happened before - a superhero film made out of legal obligations with no intention of it being released. Google Roger Corman’s Fantastic Four.

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan's six-year-long divorce received a new update as Jenna requested compensation from Channing's Magic Mike earnings.
Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum's divorce continues to unfold.
Nearly six years after the Step Up alums—who share 10-year-old daughter Everly—confirmed their breakup, they are still working through their divorce proceedings, as Jenna seeks a share of Channing's earnings from the Magic Mike franchise.
In documents obtained by NBC News, Jenna's lawyers argue that "intellectual property" from Channing's Magic Mike appearances has grown into a "multi-million cultural phenomenon," and, because the original film and its first sequel came out during their marriage, it should be considered "community in character."
"During the parties' marriage, Channing, an actor and producer got his big break with the motion picture Magic Mike," the documents, filed April 10, read. "which along with the underlying intellectual property, was developed and co-financed by Channing during marriage with community effort and marital funds."
The Magic Mike franchise, which released its first film in 2012, second in 2015, and third in 2023, was created by Steven Soderbergh—who directed the first and last installments—and is loosely based on Channing's experiences as a male stripper in Tampa in his late teens
The initial film earned about $167.2 million globally, and its most recent and final installment garnered $57.1 million, per The Hollywood Reporter. It has also inspired a 2021 spin-off reality series. Jenna's legal team alleges in the docs that Channing and his financial team "created a complex web of LLCs, holding companies and partnerships" to "dilute" the earnings and offspring profit Magic Mike has accumulated. The 43-year-old—who was declared legally single in 2019—also contends that her ex-husband "failed to disclose" business opportunities provided by Magic Mike following their 2018 split. In addition to the couple's hearing that took place April 12, Jenna's team requested a subsequent trial to determine how the couple will split assets going forward.

Women across the country have been bonding online over their “Ozempic babies” − surprise pregnancies while taking weight loss medications, despite being on birth control or having a history of fertility issues. Now, some of them say they’re experiencing intense symptoms such as extreme hunger and rapid weight gain after quitting these drugs cold turkey to protect their baby’s health.
Although hunger and weight gain are typical during pregnancy, these women say that the intensity of their symptoms is unlike that of their previous pregnancies. It’s unclear if pregnancy worsens weight loss medication withdrawal, but fertility and bariatric experts say hormonal changes associated with pregnancy could explain the fierce effects.

A family is pleading for answers in the search for a University of Missouri student who has been missing since Friday after he left a bar in Nashville, Tennessee.
Riley Strain, 22, a senior, was last seen Friday night by friends at a bar in Nashville’s bustling Broadway area, known for nightlife, Nashville police said.
He was visiting town with his Delta Chi fraternity brothers for their spring formal, the St. Louis-Post Dispatch reported, but they got separated after he was asked to leave country singer Luke Bryan's bar, Luke’s 32 Bridge Food + Drink, his family told NBC affiliate WSMV of Nashville.
“At approximately 9:45 p.m., he was asked to leave Luke Bryan’s bar,” Strain’s stepfather, Chris Whiteid, told the station. “They got separated. The boys called him, and he said, 'I’m walking back to my hotel.' They didn’t think anything about it.”
When his friends returned to Tempo Hotel, about a half-mile away, they saw Strain’s room key but no sign of him. When they tried to call him, his phone was dead.
The young men went out to search for him, checked his Snapchat locations, and they went through the other fraternity brothers’ rooms but did not find him, so they called his parents.
Whiteid, along with his wife, Michelle Whiteid, traveled from Springfield, Missouri, to Nashville to search for him.
“We talk every day, multiple times a day,” Michelle Whiteid said. “This is the longest I’ve ever gone without talking to him.”
“We’re in a bad dream. Can we wake up? Please, just let us wake up,” her husband told WSMV.
Chris Whiteid told the Post-Dispatch that according to security video, it appeared that Strain was heading back to the hotel but took a wrong turn. It's not clear where the video was from.
Searches took place Monday, including a helicopter search of Gay Street, the area where Strain was last seen, the riverbank and a ground search, “but to no avail,” police said.
On Tuesday, police shared security video showing Strain, wearing a two-tone shirt, crossing 1st Avenue North to Gay Street at 9:47 p.m. Friday. That cross-section is about 0.7 miles from the bar he was at earlier.
TC Restaurant Group, the operator and owner of Luke’s 32 Bridge, said it, too, was working with police to provide security camera video and other potentially helpful information to aid in the search.
Strain is described as 6-foot-5 with a thin build, blue eyes and light brown hair.

She never wanted to be an actress, but at Illinois State University she joined a tight-knit group consisting of John Malkovich, Glenn Headley, Joan Allen, and Terry Kinney, who persuaded her to study acting and join the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago.
From Chicago to New York, she was cast in Saturday Night Live, although she appeared in only one episode. However, she was noticed and cast as the younger and neurotic sister of Roseanne Barr in the NBC hit Roseanne, where she won three consecutive Emmys. She also showcased her range on the big screen appearing in films such as Uncle Buck, Internal Affairs, JFK, Dear God, Scream 2, Bulworth, Lady Bird, and the Toy Story series. We have not even begun to discuss her theater work.
"I was too practical to major in theater," she says, "acting - what was I going to do with acting? There was no future in it...."
Let's discuss the American actress Laurie Metcalf.

We will have two different versions of R&J in NYC at the same time! This one (a musical) and Tom Holland’s (a play). The West End’s revival is coming to Broadway later this year after selling out all its London shows in 2 hours.
“Kit Connor and West Side Story‘s Rachel Zegler will star in the new Broadway production of William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet this fall, directed by Tony Award winner Sam Gold, with music by Grammy Award winner Jack Antonoff and movement by Tony winner Sonya Tayeh.
Producers Seaview made the announcement today.
The production should not be confused with yet another high-profile revival of the star-crossed lovers = the West End production of Romeo & Juliet starring Tom Holland and Francesca Amewudah-Rivers, which also is eyeing a Broadway staging. Jamie Lloyd directs that one.”

The Renoir Sucks at Painting movement (if one can call it that) was the brainchild of Max Geller, and came to life after he encountered the sizable collection of Renoir paintings at Philadelphia’s Barnes Foundation. Its central outlet is an Instagram account that features close-ups of Renoir paintings accompanied by satirical, often long-winded critiques.

Sure they are useful but I just got back from eating dinner with a friend and almost every table had people sitting glued to their phones. We went to a Japanese steakhouse and we were the first to be seated at one of the hibachi tables. A family group came in and were seated with us. Immediately out came the cellphones. The parents on theirs and the two kids on theirs. The chef was almost entirely ignored except by us. Subsequent groups filed in, were seated and the same scenario played out.
Does anyone talk anymore? I find it both rude and sad.

The rest was ads, yakkity yak between the djs and their crews, phone pranks and other stupid shit. The people yapping were loud and shockingly dumb. They didn't even play any good music between the classic rock, alternative and top 40. I finally gave up and plugged in my own playlist. The state of top 40 is really bad now which would explain my lack of knowledge of newer artists.

Decided on a whim to check out the Steel City Con on Saturday morning.
I've always loved Molly Ringwald, so a few friends and I headed over to see if we could clap eyes on her. It was PACKED, and $50 a ticket seemed steep. Oh well. C'est la vie aujord 'hui.
Here are my thoughts
Everyone from The Breakfast Club was there except for Estevez, and they all look pretty good. Anthony Michael Hall was up and about, hugging everyone who got a picture. Ally Sheedy seemed more aloof, Ringwald was somewhere in the middle.
The 90210 people were incredibly popular. They had a roundtable discussion in a big tent in the parking lot (nicer than it sounds) that was packed. I stood in the back and listened a bit, and the fans went apeshit every time someone talked. Tori Spelling also seemed to be having a pretty good time., laughing and talking with everyone. It was good to see Shannen Doherty up and about. Hope she got a good amount of cash.
Rosie O'Donnell and Geena Davis were both there, so charmingly enough, there were a lot of young girls dressed up as Rockford Peaches roaming around. Very cute.
Smallest lines (not to be mean) were Heather Graham and DL legend Debra Messing. At one point, they announced "Debra Messing will be leaving at 4:00, so get in line now!" That helped her a bit, but not much.
Susan Sarandon was the only celebrity not out in the open. She had her own little curtain box shielding her from the hoi polloi. That tracked.
Ernie Hudson also had a huge line all day. Again, lots of kids in Ghostbusters jumpsuits. Cute. Ad trust me, he can still get it if he wants it. A very attractive man, even up close. (Passed by him as he was being escorted somewhere)
Ian Ziering is still pretty attractive as well.
Have to say... I'd go again. The people watching is insane.

My neighbor drowned last month on a fishing trip. He was in his mid-50s and worked in a factory.
His family (wife and five kids) have been posting non-stop on social media about how much they miss and love him, sharing photos of them all together when they were little at various events like birthdays and christmas. The kids are all in their 20/30s, but 2 still live at home. Last year, the father (minor klepto) hid stolen goods in the oldest son's car and the cops ended up searching the car, and the son got arrested and the father didn't even defend him. the son didn't go to jail, just came back a few days later and smashed up the father's car, threatened to beat him up.
Another situation involved him calling his own daughter a slut in front of the entire neighborhood, and puncturing the wheels of her bike.
He was constantly having domestic disputes with the wife and her family (the wife's sister lived with them and appartently liked to stir drama) The police were called constantly due to his drunken violence. My point is, despite all the drama and brawling when he was alive, everybody seemed genuinely devastated when he died and were sobbing like crazy at the funeral. They still look very shaken up and depressed a month after his death.
The reason it makes me sad is because even though I never wanted marriage/kids, it's depressing to know when I die nobody will grieve for me like my neighbor's family grieve for him. Despite all the crap he put them through, they love him and miss him because he's family.

Monday is Patriots' Day and Boston is gearing up for the 128th running of the Boston Marathon—the world's oldest annual long-distance race.
30,000 participants are arriving in Boston from 129 countries and all 50 states—many to fulfill a personal goal and many to raise money for charity. This historic event brings such an exciting energy to Boston and embodies the spirit of community that defines our beloved city.
This year's race occurs on the same day as One Boston Day—a day set aside to honor the "resiliency, generosity, and strength demonstrated by the people of Boston and those around the world in response to the tragedy of April 15, 2013."
Is anyone on DL running?
Who has run the marathon in the past?

I need it. I’ve had it before. But there’s still work to do. Every therapist I call says they’re either full or are Telehealth only. Like I want to process my trauma and pain REMOTELY. How does that make any sense at all? I already feel alone as it is.
I get that therapists don’t want to spend money on rent if they don’t need to — but it just suddenly feels like I’m at a drive thru talking about my molestation through the clown’s mouth.

This film is truly incredible from start to finish. Would I call it a masterpiece? No, but I would say it’s pretty close to being one. There are pacing issues with this one that most either don’t care about or don’t notice, but I did. However, its positives massively outweigh the minor negatives. The cinematography, the script, the visual effects, the costume designs, the sound effects, the acting.. it’s just tremendous.
Timothee Chalamet gives a true leading man movie star performance, and is phenomenal from start to end. He was perfectly cast as Paul and you see that more and more as the movie plays. By the third act he is truly superb and Oscar worthy! He carries a massive film like this and leads it with such poise and masterful acting.
Rebecca Ferguson goes full mama bear as Lady Jessica in this one and is kinda scary (in a good way). She deserves all the accolades she’s receiving for her performance here. She speaks very little as we get further into the movie but still manages to say so much through body language and using expressions and her eyes. I never thought of Ferguson as much of a “real” actress for some reason but she was truly great here!
Christopher Walken and Florence Pugh share almost all their scenes together (besides Pugh with Charlotte Rampling) and their scenes are far and few in between everyone else but they are so wonderful that you look forward to seeing them on screen again. Pugh doesn’t have much to do as Princess Irulan but the little she does do sticks because she has such a large screen presence, and she holds her own opposite a terrific and very strong Christopher Walken (in what may be one of his better performances) and an (always) brilliant Charlotte Rampling.
Oh, Austin Butler. Where to even begin. Not only is this performance amazing, it’s arguably his best performance (yes, better than Elvis). He shows up more than halfway into the movie and his introduction scene… they knew what they were doing (see image below and you know what I mean). He’s pale skinned and 100% hairless (as are all his kind of people) but Jesus did he look HOT AS FUCK IN THIS. He’s evil, psychotic and scary but so fucking hot. His performance could easily get him a supporting actor nomination if he plays his cards right. My biggest issue is that there wasn’t enough of him in this movie. I also feel they didn’t play up his psychotic nature enough but for the most part it was all done well and Austin was phenomenal. He never missed a beat and looked like a gorgeous alien while doing so.
Zendaya is the heart of this film and she’s so fucking likable in it. She gives a movie star performance and is incredibly charming as Chani and you feel bad for her by the end of the film. In the final act she has a lot less lines and a lot more acting to do with her eyes and she NAILS IT. All the praise for her in this is justified. I know there is discourse about all the changes Denis made to the Chani character from the book and I get it but at least people are loving her in the film. She also has the closing scene in the movie, by herself.
Javier Bardem is perfection and adds a lot of life to every scene he is in.
Another negative is the war is too quick. It should have lasted longer.
If you have questions… ask. And go see it on the big screen. It’s so worth it.

Jealous, bitches?
My friend has been giving me a lot of fresh eggs, as she keeps chickens. They really are good (like how a tomato from the garden tastes more “tomato-y” than one from the store.) So I looked at some egg recipes.
Intimidated by the idea of making a soufflé my whole life, I was mostly leery of folding in the whipped egg whites - but one tutorial pointed out the whites don’t have to be 100% meticulously incorporated. There can be streaks of white. Another recipe recommended the mold be baked in a pan of hot water, so I added that step.
Anyway, it turned out great, even though I don’t have the perfect baking pan! I was surprised that the process wasn’t hard if I went step by step, and accepted that the unbaked soufflé batter isn’t as delicate as I assumed. The only delicate part is serving it immediately, which everyone knows, anyway. And not opening the over door during the first 25 mins.
Have you had soufflé adventures? Share your soufflé scandals and successes here!

I got a letter today asking if I wanted to get in touch with the sender, a friend in college from 50 years ago. I have not heard one word from him since 1996. His last phone call was enough to sever any contact since. He was fun back in the 70's but hasn't had or been much fun since. The last time I saw him in person, about 30 years ago, he was drunk and combative and trying to pick up (and then start fights with when they blew him off) members of a water polo team half his age at a hotel in Florida. He was out of control to the point that I left.
He has had issues with alcohol and maintaining his mental health, attempted suicide and failed, never had a job equal to his potential and clearly had a lot bad going on when I lost contact with him, deliberately. I'm guessing the outreach boilerplate is part of a recovery process - "I'm trying to reconnect with some old friends of which I consider you one" but also "If you don't choose to respond, please accept my apologies."
I'm not eager to reply as I have enough drama in my life already and no great desire to catch up even if he is sober now. It might be interesting, it might be sad, and I dunno, if he's fragile I don't want to make things worse for him. Given what I knew of him years back, it likely means he wants something. But what? Would you be interested enough to follow up and find out?

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The U.S. Supreme Court has denied a petition by MyPillow founder and election denier Mike Lindell to consider his challenge to the legality of the FBI's seizure of his cellphone at a restaurant drive-through.
The high court, without comment Monday, declined to reconsider three lower court rulings that went against Lindell, a prominent promoter of false claims that voting machines were manipulated to steal the 2020 presidential election from President Donald Trump.
FBI agents seized the cellphone from him at a Hardee's fast-food restaurant in the southern Minnesota city of Mankato in 2022 as part of an investigation into an alleged scheme to breach voting system technology in Mesa County, Colorado. Lindell alleged the confiscation violated his constitutional rights against unlawful search and seizure and was an attempt by the government to chill his freedom of speech.
The 8th Circuit Court of Appeals disagreed.
“While he has at times attempted to assert otherwise, Lindell’s objective in this action is apparent — this litigation is a tactic to, at a minimum, interfere with and, at most, enjoin a criminal investigation and ultimately hamper any potential federal prosecution," a three-judge appeals panel wrote last September.
In February, when Lindell turned to the Supreme Court, his attorneys said Lindell had still not gotten his phone back.
Monday's decision was the latest in a run of legal and financial setbacks for Lindell, who is being sued for defamation by two voting machine companies. Lawyers who were originally defending him in those cases quit over unpaid bills.
A credit crunch last year disrupted cash flow at MyPillow after it lost Fox News as one of its major advertising platforms and was dropped by several national retailers. A judge in February affirmed a $5 million arbitration award to a software engineer who challenged data Lindell said proves China interfered in the 2020 election.

An 81-year-old Ohio man has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting an Uber driver who thought she was picking up a package from the man's house. Both appeared to have been victims of scam phone calls, the Clark County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
Investigators discovered that Brock had earlier received a scam call about an incarcerated relative, which had involved threats and demands for money.
An unknown man told Brock over the phone he needed to pay $12,000 to get his nephew out of jail, according to a police report. Brock told police the caller threatened to kill him and his nephew if he didn't pay the ransom, the report said.
The same caller, or an accomplice, later hired Hall using the Uber app to pick up a package from Brock's residence, according to investigators. Hall was not aware that Brock had been threatened, the sheriff's office. said.
"Ms. Hall, suffering from medical conditions and unarmed, made no threats or assaults toward Mr. Brock, and made no demands, other than to ask about the package she was sent to retrieve," the sheriff's office said.
Brock allegedly held Hall at gunpoint and demanded to know the identities of the people who had called him. He also took Hall's phone and refused to allow her to leave, officials said, adding that Brock did not try to call police at this point.
When Hall tried to get back into her vehicle, Brock allegedly shot her, and there was a "subsequent scuffle at the door of Ms. Hall's vehicle," the sheriff's office said. Brock then allegedly shot her two more times, before calling 911.

A cruise turned into a nightmare for people aboard Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas when a young man jumped overboard shortly after 4 a.m. Thursday.
The 18-story ship was sailing between Cuba and the Bahamas’ Grand Inagua Island when the as-yet-unidentified man jumped off one of the decks.
According to onlookers, his father and brother watched helplessly as he leaped over the side.
Some passengers said it appeared to be an impulsive, spur-of-the-moment decision.
“I had hung out with him and his brother in the hot tub until 3:30,” passenger Bryan Sims tells The Post. ” It was standing room only. He sat right beside me the whole time.”
“He was pretty drunk,” Sims continues.
“As we were walking from the hot tub back to the elevators, his dad and brother were walking towards us. His dad was fussing at him for being drunk, I guess.”
“When we got to them, he said to his dad, ‘I’ll fix this right now.’ And he jumped out the window in front of us all.”
“There was a lot of yelling, and the crew was alerted immediately,” another passenger, Deborah Morrison, told The Post.
“His family was horrified. Just beside themselves. I can’t even begin to imagine what they’re going through.”
“It was insane,” says Sims. “It was just surreal.”
In a statement to The Post, Royal Caribbean said its crew immediately sprang into action following the incident.
“The ship’s crew immediately launched a search and rescue effort alongside the US Coast Guard, who has taken over the search,” the statement reads.
“Our Care Team is providing support and assistance to the guest’s family during this difficult time. For the privacy of the guest and their family, we have no additional details to share.”
News of the apparent suicide attempt quickly spread among the guests — and many of them tried to help in any way they could.
“The early morning was definitely somber as so many people came out of their cabins to stare at the sea, hoping to be able to aid in finding the person,” said Amy Phelps Fouse, a passenger on the ship.
“Royal Caribbean has been excellent at communicating updates throughout the day,” Fouse continued. “They have asked that people act with compassion in light of the tragic situation.”
Overboard incidents on cruise ships are rare.
According to the Washington Post, about 386 people were reported to have gone overboard on the major cruise lines between 2000 to 2020.
The incidents, whether accidental or intentional, are often deadly.
In the past few years, most cruise lines have enacted onboard safety measures and surveillance systems to help reduce the risk of overboard deaths.
The Coast Guard confirmed to The Post it is still conducting a search and rescue operation in the waters off Cuba. The man has not yet been found.

San Francisco was light years ahead of a city like New York in 1976- they show all of the different aspects of gay life in San Francisco in 1976 including a gay bathhouse. The narrator is not homophobic/hateful in any way and quite respectful. In NYC at that time they would only report on a gay bathhouse if there was a murder or deaths from a fire- which occurred in May 1977 at the Everard Bathhouse. I was only 10 years old in 1976. It must have been so exciting ( pre AIDS) to live in San Francisco in the mid to late 1970's. Definitely the best place in the world at that time for a gay man to live.

It resulted in the impeachment of the president, life imprisonment of the captain, imprisonment of the crew...
Seoul: Ten years ago Tuesday, an overloaded South Korean ferry capsized and sank, killing hundreds of schoolchildren who had been ordered to stay in their cabins even as the captain evacuated.
The accident and botched rescue triggered nationwide fury. The ship's "incompetent" crew were jailed, the wreckage of the Sewol ferry lifted, and South Korea's then-president Park Geun-hye impeached, in part over her disastrous mishandling of the accident.
The tragedy is that the government allowed the children to drown, as they would not allow rescuers to approach the sinking ship.

Former Republican Congressman Madison Cawthorne who was tailgating me, just rear ended a FL State Trooper‼️ Im SHOOK 🤯😡😳
I was driving on i75S towards Miami in the left lane and this black tinted sports car was tailgating me relentlessly. I accelerated ahead and moved to the right lane in front of a tractor trailer to let the car by. 5 mins later the highway comes to a complete stop, I swerve to the side so no one rear ends me and slow to a halt. Suddenly the car door opens and a man in a wheelchair rolls out. At the same moment I have to navigate around his car and I look ahead to see the officer exiting from his rear ended vehicle holding his neck in the left lane as well. I pulled over to the right shoulder lane and stopped to ask if everyone was ok and to offer assistance.
I couldnt believe my eyes. It occured to me that former CONGRESSMAN CAWTHORNE from NC was the black CAR that stormed by me in an angry road rage tantrum. I spoke to the cop to see if he was ok as he was quite stunned & kept reaching for his neck. He said he was ok, asked if I was a witness, (I wasnt, I must have been 30 seconds behind) and I gave them water as i didnt know what else to do after he thanked me for stopping.
As I drove away & replayed the surreal scene in my head I realized it was the same car who was erratically & aggressively driving behind & then around me. Unbelievably scary & upsetting to see 🥺
(Happened at 4:32pm heading South on i75 towards Miami around the Big Cypress Reservation)

A modern day reworking of iconic sitcom The Golden Girls is what TV audiences are longing for - but not a simply remake.
One of the show’s acclaimed writers feels that the Jane Lynch led planned sitcom take on Golden Girls will be "wonderful". Award winning creative David A. Goodman feels that while it’s easy to "trash" the concept, Lynch’s skills and "recapturing the magic" will lead to a big success. Goodman says that he sat back in awe watching Bea Arthur, Betty White, Rue McClanahan, and Estelle Getty turn his jokes into TV gold.
Goodman also opened up on some moments with show star Betty and even mistakenly being "rude" to Quentin Tarantino - who played an Elvis impersonator. Goodman, who also penned The Orville and Family Guy episodes, is optimistic that "brilliant' Lynch and Cyndi Lauper’s project to create a "kind of a ‘Golden Girls’ for today" will be a hit.
In an exclusive interview with the Mirror US, Goodman said of the reboot: "I root for somebody to try to recapture something as exciting as that. As long as they're not redoing old scripts, as long as they're finding a fresh take. And I think it's wonderful to try to recapture. There was a simplicity to that show that I think audiences love, and if somebody can try to do that again, I think that's great.
"I've worked with Jane a lot. She's very talented, She's a delightful perfect person. I think that is very easy to trash that kind of effort as derivative or as, but that's not, but I don't think that's the goal of those writers. I think the goal is to do something funny and use a familiar piece of intellectual property to bring an audience in, but you've got to keep them. And so I'm all for that. It's about the writing and the acting.
"On that show, you had this incredibly talented group of writers and you had this incredible group of actors who were pros, who brought so much to the party. I wrote many jokes that came out of Bea Arthur's mouth, but once she said them, they weren't my joke anymore. They were hers because she understood how to play that character. So that's the goal.” Goodman, who is honored this month with the WGAW Morgan Cox Award in recognition of outstanding services to the Guild, added: “It's not going to be the same show. It's going to be its own thing.
"And it's so many years later, it's 35 years later, they've got to define it for themselves. But there are a lot of really talented writers in Hollywood and actors and performers. and they can create something memorable. It's never going to be easy, but just putting the tag of Golden Girls on your show doesn't make it easier. It makes it harder. And I'm sure they know that.”
With streaming services’ growth over the last decade, many traditional family sitcoms have been replaced with edgier, darker and even x-rated comedies. But Goodman insists that the biggest audience for networks and streamers will be family-orientated gag-filled dramas. "Comedy is always evolving, I think there is room for a Golden Girls-type show. Audiences still love well-produced Multicam shows, family shows.

Tuberculosis outbreak at Chicago migrant shelters sparks urgent contact tracing as officials say a FIFTH of Latin American arrivals carry the disease
The Chicago Department of Public Health said 'a small number of cases' were reported 'in a few different shelters' around the city.
Health officials confirmed a fifth of Latin American arrivals carry TB, but it usually latent, not contagious, and asymptomatic.
The TB cases come after 55 measles cases were detected in the city, the majority originating from the Pilsen migrant shelter
These cases come as the city is increasing its budget with the firm that's been helping with migrant health care.

A transgender charity runner from Daventry will attempt to complete the full set of six marathon ‘majors’ in Boston on Monday after competing in the events in three gender categories.
Glenique Frank, who apologised after last year’s London Marathon following criticism for running in the female category, is calling on race organisers to now introduce a specific category for transgender athletes.
“I want to campaign to get a category in world sport and charity events, anything, for transgender athletes,” she told the BBC.
“Governments around the world need to look at this seriously because there is a lot of transgender athletes that are entering illegally and it’s actually giving the transgender community a bad name.”
The 55-year-old has raised around £36,000 for UK charities in previously completing the other five 26.2 mile marathon majors in New York, Tokyo, Chicago, Berlin and London.

Alyssa Grenfell, 31, left the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Utah to start a new life in New York City in 2017. Since then, she has been detailing the church’s inner workings on YouTube — including the rules she had to follow, like not having coffee.
In a recent minute-long video, Grenfell said she noticed on social media that many were curious why members of the Mormon Church tend to have a physical resemblance — in other words, “why certain people look Mormon.”
Grenfell pointed out that Ryan Gosling, 43, was born Mormon, noting in her video caption that “he has Mormon face.”
Grenfell’s lookalike theory isn’t salacious, rather, it comes down to community.
“Mormons really only marry other Mormons,” Grenfell reasoned. “You can’t marry in a Mormon temple unless it’s two Mormons getting married, this in large part has made it so that the gene pool is actually very small — especially in a place like Utah, where Mormons fled and went to Utah to be able to practice polygamy in peace.”

In addition to targeting 12-year-old Barron Trump, the Oscar-nominated actor and younger brother of Jane Fonda added in the all-caps tweet that he'd like to see if first lady Melania Trump would "stand up against the giant a****** she is married to."
Although the tweet has since been deleted, Mrs. Trump's office notified the Secret Service.

Never been to Austria. Kind of old to be starting such a byzantine complex language and I'll never be able to speak it(they all speak english anyway) but I could be able to read it in popular magazines and I love the German culture. I've started with a native speaking tutor to learn fundamentals on zoom.
Is this a good place to go? German cities look too dreary post war with a lot of ugly modern buildings. But when I see pre war photos they seem to have been amazing and very beautiful. What a bunch a very fucking stupid people to have it destroyed by war all that beauty that their ancestors built let alone the lives lost.
And I love their culture why? Because it was created by their genius ancestors.

Greek actress Mary Mina, playing the role of high priestess, lit the torch using a backup flame instead of a parabolic mirror due to cloudy skies for the start of a relay in Greece and France. The relay will culminate with the lighting of the Olympic flame in the French capital at the opening ceremony.
Hundreds of dignitaries and spectators are attending the ritual in the small Peloponnese town in southwestern Greece where the Olympics were born in 776 BCE, and where the ceremony is held every two years for the summer and winter Olympics.

Jupiter and Uranus April 16, 2024 | Uranus Two giants of the solar system huddle close together in the evening twilight the next few days. The viewing window is short, so you need to time it just right to see them.
Jupiter and Uranus are low in the west as twilight fades. Jupiter is easy to pick out — it looks like a brilliant star. Uranus is just above it tonight, by about the width of your finger held at arm’s length. But you need binoculars to pick it out. The planets will slide past each other on Sunday night.
Uranus is the Sun’s third-largest planet — four times the diameter of Earth. Its atmosphere is topped by an organic “haze,” which makes it tough to see much below it. The atmosphere consists mainly of hydrogen and helium. These elements are left over from the planet’s formation, from the cloud of gas that enveloped the young Sun.
The third-most-abundant member of the atmosphere is methane. It’s found mostly near the top of the atmosphere. Methane absorbs redder wavelengths of light, so Uranus looks like an almost featureless blue-green ball.
Methane is at least partially responsible for the high-altitude haze. Methane itself makes up part of the haze. The ultraviolet light from the Sun breaks apart some of the methane molecules. Their carbon and hydrogen then combine in different ways to make ethane, acetylene, and other compounds. So the haze is like the smog found over major cities — blocking much of this giant planet from view.

Otto Preminger's notorious race melodrama, 1967's "Hurry Sundown," has a few redeeming qualities, but the sleazy script & some ham acting are stupefying. The plus side: Jane Fonda, Diahann Carroll, Robert Hooks, & in her film debut, Faye Dunaway, offer good performances. They minus side: "southern" Michael Caine & scenery chewers Burgess Meredith, George Kennedy, & Madeleine Sherwood. What are these folks REALLY fighting about? Why, land, Katie Scarlett! My take on this guilty pleasure trash:

“Rust” armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed blasted the jurors who convicted her of manslaughter charges in recorded jail phone conversations as “idiots” and “a--holes” and complained that they took only two hours to deliberate, according to a recent filing by prosecutors.
Those crude comments by Gutierrez-Reed were among the revelations made by prosecutors ahead of her sentencing on Monday. Gutierrez-Reed also said she wants Alec Baldwin, who was handling the gun that fired the fatal shot on the movie set in 2021, to go to jail, too, and that she won’t testify at his upcoming criminal trial if subpoenaed.
Prosecutors Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis contend these comments show why Gutierrez-Reed should not receive a conditional discharge, which is what her lawyers are seeking.

John Wayne Bobbitt was forced to have his toes amputated more than 30 years after his wife cut off his genitalia in 1993.
John, 57, revealed to The Sun on April 13 that his toes were amputated due to toxic peripheral polyneuropathy. The condition was caused by his stint at the military base Camp Lejeune in North Carolina during his time as a Marine in the ‘80s. At the time, the camp’s water supply was severely contaminated and has led to cancer and other ailments in people who spent time there.
John also said that the effects of the contaminated water likely led to the incident that ended in his penis being cut off by his then-wife, Lorena Bobbitt.
"I wasn't behaving the way I should have," John said. "Maybe I would have made better decisions if my cognitive functioning wasn't distorted by the chemicals."

Grisham recalled how “internally, people in the West Wing were nervous of what us in the East Wing would be doing.”
Grisham served as chief of staff and press secretary to Melania Trump. She later became the Trump White House press secretary and then communications director.
“I recall one time the former president calling me from Air Force One to basically see how angry she was and to see if we were putting any statements out because we never checked with the West Wing if we were going to say anything, so he definitely was worried,” she explained. “The West Wing was constantly checking in with me.”
“When I said we are not going to the State of the Union or she will just meet him on Air Force One, I stopped there and they all knew in the West Wing not to push further or ask her to do any more than that.”

Walt Disney Studios 1990's remake of the 1961 Hayley Mills romantic comedy classic was an instant hit. The remake follows two girls who discover they are twins separated at birth and work to reunite their transatlantic parents.
The film was the last of the Charles Shyer/Nancy Meyers partnership which saw a series of highly successful films such as Private Benjamin, Baby Boom, and Father of the Bride Part I & II.
Lindsay Lohan, in her first feature film, perfectly plays the twin girls. Dennis Quaid is the California vineyard owning Dad, while Natasha Richardson is the elegant London-based Mother. The rest of the cast include Elaine Hendrix, Lisa Ann Walter, Simon Kunz, Polly Holliday, Joanna Barnes, Maggie Wheeler, and Sir Ronnie Stevens.

Mine was an old series called Fraternity Memoirs about a guy from Brooklyn who goes away to college and falls for his preppy frat brother while trying to deny the fact that he's gay. It's positioned as a true story, but was hot enough to actually develop a Yahoo group to discuss it.
Current favorite is called Little White Pills.

My best friend is straight and I have known him and his family for years. His only daughter is getting married and the family doesn't have much money and lots of bills. They really cannot afford a wedding, nor can the groom's family. As well as giving the newlyweds a generous monetary gift, I would like to give my friend as gift to help pay for the wedding, but am not sure how much would be appropriate. I am not rich, but would love to see their family have a lovely event. How much would be appropriate for a wedding gift and a gift for my friend?

I've always been fascinated by stories of people who vanished. Charlene Downes was a 14 year old girl who disappeared in Blackpool in 2003. She was being sexually trafficked by her own parents and traded sexual favors with local shop owners in exchange for cigarettes, food, and cash. Charlene was known to blackmail several of her contacts. I think she threatened to expose the wrong person and he killed her.

I moved to an affluent suburb that is right outside a major metropolitan area in 2021. I joined NextDoor, mainly looking for recommendations for local services, like handymen and whatnot. At the time, about 90% of the posts were some variation of, "OMG, we are so lucky to live here!" It is a place of great natural beauty, coastal features, a mountain, hiking trails, you name it.
In the last year the discourse has devolved into people going off on each other. There are numerous complaints about entitled teens on e-bikes terrorizing seniors, the same teens stealing from the local Safeway and ruining the trails. Then there are endless threads about irresponsible dog walkers losing control of their dogs who then go on to attack small dogs.
I never fucking post on NextDoor because these people all seem insane to me. What is ND like where you live?
#breakingnew 🚨🚨Former Republican Congressman Madison Cawthorne who was tailgating me, just rear ended a FL State Trooper‼️ Im SHOOK 🤯😡😳 I was driving on i75S towards Miami in the left lane and this black tinted sports car was tailgating me relentlessly.

TYT, The Damage Report, The Kyle Kulinski Show, Krystal Ball of Breaking Points, Democracy Now, The Vanguard. Any others? The best? The Worst? Many of them say they are the alternative to what they call corporate news media. I started with TYT (The Young Turks), but have been looking at other outlets. Are they as genuine as they claim?
Discuss.

They're chipping these junkies now.
Ahead of the 2024 Mount Everest season, Nepal has announced a new requirement that all climbers must rent and use tracking chips on their journey. Reputed companies were already using them but now it’s been mandatory for all climbers. It will cut down search and rescue time in the event of an accident. Climbers will pay $10-15 apiece for the chips, which will be sewn into their jackets. Once the climber returns, the chip will be removed, given back to the government, and saved for the next person.
Last year, Nepal gave out a record 478 climbing permits. Twelve climbers were confirmed to have died on the mountain, while another five remain officially missing.

Can someone explain to me the appeal of this franchise? I understood the appeal of the first one because it was so surprising and unusual, but it's been going for more than half a century now. What else is there left to say? Unlike "Star Trek," for example,it doesn't seem to allow for many interesting permutations of the original formula.

I recall seeing him in GQ magazine (and on the cover) and finding his eyes extremely beautiful! He had such a beautiful face.
Most images of him seem lost and not much info exists about him, but he was a model who worked with all the biggest brands and covered numerous magazines in the mid-late 80s and some in the 90s. He now lives in Idaho and lives a quiet life.
Everyone who has ever worked with him has had nothing but amazing things to say about him. He is supposedly a kind person and caring.

Has there ever been a more unfortunate near-name duplication in Hollywood?
Also, I have to say, Roy was one of my biggest crushes when I was a teenager. I don't even think he's that good-looking, but he had some sort of charisma I can't quite identify.
Had the last 30 minutes of Jaws been a gay porno film, I don't think it would seemed to have come out of nowhere.

Not as good as, or just less popular than, The Twilight Zone? Still, it left an impression on me back in the day.
