Meghan Markle’s podcast has been “pushed back” until next year, according to reports.
Reportedly, Richard Eden, the editor for Mail Online, said that Archetypes would be published next year 'at the earliest' in collaboration with Lemonada Media. Eden wrote for the Daily Mail, "A source [who is based in California] tells me there is not expected to be any work broadcast this year.
The relaunch of Meghan's Archetypes podcast got pushed back to 2025." Additionally, Eden said that Lemonada did not want Meghan's upcoming (cooking and gardening) Netflix series, which is currently shooting, to 'overshadow' the podcast's debut.

“ Another filmmaker might have subtracted himself in order to foreground the story, whereas Guadagnino goes big, leading with style (and a trendy score from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross). In keeping with the athletic theme, he does all kinds of wild things with the camera, including a composition framed from the umpire’s perspective mid-court that zooms along the net to find Tashi in the crowd. Occasionally, she and other characters smack the fluorescent yellow balls directly at the screen, making us flinch in our seats. By the end, “Challengers” has assumed the ball’s POV — or maybe it’s the racket’s — as Guadagnino immerses audiences in the film’s climactic match.
Far from your typical sports movie, “Challengers” is less concerned with the final score than with the ever-shifting dynamic between the players. The pressure mounts and the perspiration pours, as the pair once known as “Fire and Ice” face off again. Whether audiences identify as Team Patrick or Team Art, Guadagnino pulls a risky yet effective trick, essentially scoring the winning shot himself.”

As midnight ticks around and the fireworks burst in the skies of my hometown, it’s time for the first reading thread of the New Year, where DataLounge friends share what they are reading, good or bad. Short stories etc are welcome.
As per the previous thread, I am still listening to Moby Dick, but not during chemotherapy, there are too many interruptions and I am enjoying the story far too much for stopping and starting. So it’s on my commute.
I wanted a big, easy to read saga to read over the holidays so I am rereading Gone With The Wind for the first time since childhood. Scarlett has less of Vivien Leigh’s devious intelligence, and Melanie isn’t a beatific and sickly sweet as per Olivia de Havilland but guileless, plucky and almost immature. Reading now, they are very much sheltered teenagers.
I read the CWA Gold Dagger winner every year so The Kingdoms of Savannah by George Dawes Green is on my list.

Yahoo Entertainment Jennifer Aniston Is Jealous of Julia Roberts’ Plastic Surgery Work, Says Source Michael Gioia Wed, April 3, 2024 at 7:10 AM MST 1 min read
Julia Roberts' subtle and strategic nips and tucks are giving Jennifer Aniston a serious case of sour grapes, an insider exclusively tells Life & Style.
Roberts, 56, "is quietly boasting she's found a way to turn back the clock without going over the top," the source says. "She looks fantastic. You can see that she's had a little work on her eyes, but nothing too extreme. It's done wonders for her self-esteem and her marriage because her husband, Danny Moder, can't keep his hands off her."
But Roberts' youthful glow is causing Aniston, 55, to turn green with envy, according to Life & Style sources.
"Jen's getting trolled for the work she's had done, while Julia is being feted as this forever young sex symbol. She is frantically trying to find out who Julia's doctor is, but she's getting shut out," says an insider.
"It looks like Julia's had Botox to her lower to the forehead and her upper eyes done," says top Chicago plastic surgeon Dr. Otto Placik. "I think she's likely had Botox and filler to the lip region and maybe in the cheeks as well."
He also points out some plastic-surgery fails on the former Friends star. "I think Jennifer got filler eyelids that is not sitting well, and it looks as though her lower eyelids have been tightened," says Placik, who has not treated either star.
"It looks like she's got undesirable filler in what we call the tear trough. And then she looks like she's definitely had some filler to her lower lip."

It made sense for American college students to protest the Vietnam War in the late 1960s and early 1970s because some among them were being drafted to fight in an unpopular war. But what in the end do American college students ahve to do with the Israel-Hamas War? How significant is the investment of most colleges and universities in the Israeli government? Would divestment really make all that big of a difference to Israel's financial health?
Students are protesting on their campuses because it's a very safe way to make displeasure with global politics heard, but it's ultimately pretty meaningless. It becomes a distraction for both the American left and (particularly) the right, so they can wring their hands over the state of post-secondary education in the US today. It helps no one in the Middle East.

Dollneck thread.
Karen, a five-year-old ostrich living at the Topeka Zoo in Kansas, has died after swallowing a set of keys she snatched from a staff member, according to zoo officials.
The beloved bird “tragically succumbed to complications arising from consuming a foreign object,” the Topeka Zoo said in a Facebook post on Friday.
According to zoo officials, Karen reached beyond her enclosure to grab a set of keys from a staff member and “immediately” swallowed them.
“Zoo staff consulted with experts across the country to undergo surgical and non-surgical efforts to minimize the impact of the keys,” the post reads. “Unfortunately, these efforts were unsuccessful.”
Karen was euthanized on Thursday, according to Fawn Moser, interim director of the Topeka Zoo.
“We are devastated by the loss of Karen,” Moser said in a statement Friday. “She was not just an animal; she was a beloved member of our community.”
Karen arrived at the Topeka Zoo and Conservation Center in 2023 and was a member of the Giraffe & Friends exhibit, which allows visitors to interact with animals.
Known for her playful nature, Karen loved the water and spent much of her time “swimming in the pool, playing in the sprinkler, and, best of all, being our ‘dancing queen,’” the zoo said.
“Our thoughts are with our dedicated animal care team, who formed deep bonds with Karen during her time with us,” Moser added.
Zoo officials have conducted a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Karen’s death and are taking “appropriate actions” with regard to the team member involved. Protocols are also being reviewed and enhanced to further protect animals living at the zoo.
“Karen’s passing serves as a solemn reminder of the importance of vigilance and care in maintaining the safety of our animal inhabitants,” the zoo said.

Spring Break reached rowdy new heights outside Savannah, GA ... as several violent fights broke out, despite increased police presence.
Thousands flocked to Tybee Island this past weekend for the annual Orange Crush gathering ... and it didn't take long for chaos to ensue. Videos from the party weekend show countless intoxicated attendees doing everything from littering to fighting.
A group of women are seen wailing on each other, with one fighter ripping the bathing suit top off another. Few intervene in the brawl ... choosing instead to film the fight on their respective phones.
Partygoers also trashed the island's picturesque beaches ... as large amounts of garbage notably made its way into the ocean after being discarded on the sand.
Heading into the Spring Break weekend, Tybee Island increased its police presence ... with cops stationed at all road points. Remember, Savannah State University severed its ties with Orange Crush in 1991 after violent incidents and a drowning tainted the festival.
The party weekend returned in 2020 ... before taking another hiatus sparked by the pandemic. Now Orange Crush is back -- seemingly wilder than ever ... with tens of thousands of people overrunning the 3-mile island.
Major Bob Holley of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources tried to paint a more peaceful picture of the weekend. He told WSAV3 ... "We have a little bit heavier of a presence, which gives a little bit of a safer environment for people. I think when there’s a good law enforcement and public safety presence, people can relax and when they can relax things tend to go well."
It seems the major needs to take a peek on social media for a clearer account of what went down.

They have great lives. They're in love. They're affectionate with each other.
They have dogs, maybe kids, beautiful homes, travel.
I was at a restaurant with a pal the other night and I said to him after the server walked away: "Is she...is she being rude to me? Or am I imagining it?" He said, "No. She's not." I said okay and then we went on but I couldn't shake it especially after a few more interactions. "The bread is COMING," she snarled at one point.
Later, he said, "Well, yes, she was pretty rude to you."
How in the FUCK can I find a boyfriend when I can't even share a pleasant interaction with a total stranger who is invested in making me happy so she'll get a nice tip?

Well, hello, Voyager 1! The venerable spacecraft is once again making sense APRIL 23, 20245:00 AM ET Nell Greenfieldboyce 2010 Nell Greenfieldboyce
Members of the Voyager team celebrate at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory after receiving data about the health and status of Voyager 1 for the first time in months.
NASA says it is once again able to get meaningful information back from the Voyager 1 probe, after months of troubleshooting a glitch that had this venerable spacecraft sending home messages that made no sense.
The Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 probes launched in 1977 on a mission to study Jupiter and Saturn but continued onward through the outer reaches of the solar system. In 2012, Voyager 1 became the first spacecraft to enter interstellar space, the previously unexplored region between the stars. (Its twin, traveling in a different direction, followed suit six years later.)
Voyager 1 had been faithfully sending back readings about this mysterious new environment for years — until November, when its messages suddenly became incoherent.
NASA's Voyager 1 spacecraft is talking nonsense. Its friends on Earth are worried SPACE NASA's Voyager 1 spacecraft is talking nonsense. Its friends on Earth are worried It was a serious problem that had longtime Voyager scientists worried that this historic space mission wouldn't be able to recover. They'd hoped to be able to get precious readings from the spacecraft for at least a few more years, until its power ran out and its very last science instrument quit working.
For the last five months, a small team at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California has been working to fix it. The team finally pinpointed the problem to a memory chip and figured out how to restore some essential software code.
"When the mission flight team heard back from the spacecraft on April 20, they saw that the modification worked: For the first time in five months, they have been able to check the health and status of the spacecraft," NASA stated in an update.
The usable data being returned so far concerns the workings of the spacecraft's engineering systems. In the coming weeks, the team will do more of this software repair work so that Voyager 1 will also be able to send science data, letting researchers once again see what the probe encounters as it journeys through interstellar space.
After a 12.3 billion-mile 'shout,' NASA regains full contact with Voyager 2 SPACE

“Well, gosh, I’ve heard about it,” Rinna told People. “I haven’t been approached or anything, but I would love to see what Taylor McBride is up to 25 years later. Wouldn’t that be something?”
Rinna said working on Melrose Place “was one of my greatest and most fun acting experiences,” working alongside “Heather [Locklear] and the whole crew.”
“I mean, it was just a great, great experience,” she added. “So if they need a Taylor McBride appearance, they know who to call. I’m around.”
Rinna famously campaigned to be cast in the 2009 Melrose Place reboot on The CW, but the series was canceled after one season.
In the followup series, the Melrose Place residents reunite after the death of one of their friends, “ut the pressure cooker of a reunion soon uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances, reignites old resentments, and reveals new secrets… throwing our characters into chaotic drama that’s reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective.”

The Ukrainians have wanted these for a while — the Army Tactical Missile System, or ATACMS. It’s a kind of very long range missile — it can be fired from HIMARS or other platforms. We have already sent them mid-range ATACMS, M39s, but these, M39A1 or M48, are long range — 300km.
Based on the current frontline, the Ukrainians would be JUST able to bombard the Kerch Bridge with them, although that would move the HIMARS quite close to the (dangerous) front line. If the missiles are M48s, Mister Putin’s beloved bridge is in a spot of bother.

Adrian Zmed was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 14, 1954. He is now 70 years old.
He was born to two Romanian parents. His father was a Romanian Orthodox Priest.
Adrian was a high school athlete, playing football until one day he broke his leg which in turn punctured a major artery. After that he decided to quit playing sports and turned his energy and time to something new, acting. He joined the drama club and was cast in his schools production of “Guys and Dolls”. He was so good that he was featured on a local tv show, being labeled one of Chicago’s top HS performers. After this he went to a college that specialized in Arts and Drama, and began studying voice on the side at the Chicago Conservatory of Music. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Goodman School of Drama.
After graduating he landed the role of Danny Zuko in the national touring company production of Grease, being his first major acting gig. After this he did a lot of guest spots on tv shows and landed main cast roles on shows that didn’t last long like Flatbush and Goodtime Girls. However, he would soon reach celebrity status, getting cast as Officer Romano on TJ Hooker. He would continue to do guest spots on other shows throughout the 80s but decided to leave TJ Hooker in 1985 when the show was being moved to CBS.
While on TJ Hooker he was cast as Johnny in Grease 2, which was expected to be a big hit and help skyrocket his film career like it did John Travolta, but it wasn’t a hit. However, his performance led to him getting cast in a few other films like The Final Terror and Bachelor Party, but his film career never took off like was expected.
After a few films, tv movies and guest spots on tv throughout the 80s, he returned to the stage in the 90s, starring in numerous musicals on and off-Broadway. In 1995 he would reprise his role as Danny Zuko in the Broadway revival. In the 00s he began doing some voice work.
He’s been married 3 times and has two sons from his first marriage. He is still married to his third wife.
Now at 70 years old, he lives a quiet life with his wife and is still close friends with his TJ Hooker costar, William Shatner.
At just 5’8 and thin, he was never my usual type, but I always found him quite sexy and found him charming at times. I loved him on TJ Hooker. He was quite handsome! I remember him becoming a teen heartthrob for a bit, always in those teen magazines my ass had no business buying (but I did).

I remember enjoying this movie as a young teenager and had not seen it in years. I had a friend who owned the unrated version on DVD which had the ridiculous "Penis Song" scene in it, which was always memorable. I've been on a nostalgia kick lately and am revisiting a lot of these early 2000s comedies, so I decided it was time to watch this again. I was surprised by how terrible it actually is. The cast is great (Cameron Diaz, Christina Applegate, Selma Blair) and while there are many funny moments to be had, the entire movie feels like a bunch of disjointed gags strung together. No cohesion. Very ridiculous. Also very entertaining. In summary: Entertaining trash.

Luxury real estate developer Mohamed Hadid — father of nepobaby models Bella and Gigi — has spent months bombarding Rep. Ritchie Torres with dozens of racist and homophobic messages, according to screenshots obtained by The Post.
The progressive Democrat apparently become a target for Hadid in the wake of his outspoken defense of Israel after Hamas’ Oct. 7 massacre.
“You worse than the rats of New York sewage system. They have bigger brains than you. You might get a job as bouncer at gay bar,” Hadid, 75, told Torres in an Instagram direct message sent from his verified account — adding the Congressman was a “slave to whites.”
“Make sure you dress as KKK to hide that ugly gray colored face of yours,” the developer added. “I know about Bronx.”
Torres, 36, made history in 2021 when he became the first openly gay African American, and first openly gay Hispanic member, of Congress.
“You are just unusual Black and colorful mouth for Israeli and AIPAC and looking for payday of over 500K,” Hadid saId in another message, referring to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, a pro-Israel lobbying group.
Torres told The Post he would not be silenced or intimidated by Hadid’s bigotry.
“Whether it is dehumanizing me as worse than the rats of the NYC sewage system or telling me to dress like the KKK to ‘hide that gray colored face of yours,’” Mr. Hadid has hurled just about every racist insult at me shorting of calling me the N-word,” Torres said.
“That Mr. Hadid felt so at ease demonizing and dehumanizing a black Member of Congress reveals a tragic truth about our politics: if you are a person of color and pro-Israel, you are fair game for racist invective.

I was uncertain if I wanted to speak about Glenn Bishop due to some circumstances, but he was a part of Beefcake history so I will.
Glenn Bishop was born and raised in Grand Haven, Michigan along the shores of Lake Michigan in the year 1937. He began working out and lifting weights at age 13 and was a star athlete in school.
Bob Mizer started the magazine Physique Pictorial which led a strange Chicago gym owner named Irv Johnson to start a rival physique magazine titled Tomorrow’s Man. Irv Johnson then set out on getting some new beautiful young men for his magazine, and discovered 15 year old Glenn Bishop, and immediately recruited him and offered him $$$ to be a physique model for him. Bishop obliged and would be featured in an early issue of Tomorrow’s Man in a speedo as the table of contents without his name posted. The next issue would add his name along with his photo and he was given a spread where he was nude but letters were carefully placed covering his “private parts”, as well as a photo of him covering himself with a towel etc. Bishop quickly became a favorite amongst gay men and Tomorrows Man took off.
At 16 he would soon have full nude photos taken and a “book” of just him was being sold through mail. The ads were in the physique magazine but you had to order the Glenn nude book specially. Irv Johnson did not try hiding his age, either, even writing about Glenn being 16 and in High School and would keep fans up to date with HS accomplishments Glenn had etc. Glenn in a speedo was the magazines table of contents for a while until June 1953, when at 16 the photo was changed to his naked rear end and Glenn would officially be introduced fully to readers, in an article titled “Want to meet Glenn Bishop?” Bishop would be featured in the magazine in one way or another from 1952 to 1954, mostly for Johnson to sell the nude books he created of Bishop. After 1954 Bishop would start modeling for tons of other physique magazines with every “physique photographer” of the time. Meanwhile, Bishop graduated from HS early (1953) and went to the University of Michigan (where he graduated in 1957). After college he went to chiropractor school, where he would graduate in 1960.
Glenn quickly became the most in demand model in the physique industry, with every photographer who took physique photos wanting to work with him. He became the highest paid physique model of the 1950s. Bishop took tons of photos for these magazines up until 1957. In 1958 Glenn “went solo” and had ads printed in Vim magazine where fans could send payment directly to him to buy his own catalogue, filled with photos of himself. At the same time, the physique magazines were still posting images of him taken as long as 5 years prior. His images were being recycled and reused over and over again in the different Beefcake magazines throughout the late 50s into the late 1960 despite him not having taken a new photo for them since 1957! When he graduated from chiropractor school in 1960 a magazine even published he was now a Doctor along with an old photo of him taken around 1955 (the photo posted below was taken around 1957 but published again in 1962).
Let’s just say he was young and beautiful and 100% exploited, however, he at least banked off of it himself as well and paid his way through college and chiropractor school.
His story is a fascinating one but messed up when you look at it now.

Donald Trump, if you take it from him, is cherishing the opportunity to stand trial on criminal charges related to a hush-money payment to a porn star. “I’m very proud to be here,” he told reporters before heading into court on Monday, calling the proceedings an “assault on America” that his presence, presumably, would serve to expose. “I’m very honored to be here,” the former president added.
Trump hasn’t been taking to martyrdom very well behind the scenes, though, three sources with knowledge of the matter tell Rolling Stone. He has privately raged over everything from reports that he can’t stop dozing off, to how the court sketch artist is rendering him, to late-night talk show hosts joking about his legal troubles. The former president is reaching levels of fury over the judicial process and all it entails that are “maxed out, even for him,” says one source who has had to personally endure Trump’s recent rantings about his trial.
The presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee has a lengthy track record of getting volcanically angry, and often allowing his rage to dictate political, legal, and policy decisions. But with the historic first criminal trial of an American president now underway, his public and private wrath has become particularly multi-faceted, and sustained to the point that longtime confidants have taken notice.

Four years ago, Claudia Aleman and her family had only one way to get online — through their cellphones. Without internet service on a computer, her youngest daughter couldn’t get homework assignments in on time, her parents couldn’t keep up with online doctor visits, and the English classes she wanted to sign up for were out of reach.
Then came a game-changer: The federal government started offering a subsidy that covered $30 of the family’s $80 monthly internet bill.
But while opening mail at her home in South Gate two months ago, Aleman came across a letter from the Federal Communications Commission announcing that the Affordable Connectivity Program they had come to rely on would end in May unless Congress approved more funding.
The program, which was created after the pandemic forced many Americans to turn to the internet to connect with work and school, has 23 million enrollees nationwide — 1 in 6 U.S. households — including nearly 3 million in California.
Since 2021, it has provided a $30 monthly subsidy for low-income households and $75 for those on tribal lands. But the $14.2 billion funded through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act has run out.

About 30 million American employees are currently held into the dreaded 'non-compete clause' : from CEOs to hairstylists. It's an agreement some employers make new hires sign forbidding an employee (in some cases, even fast food workers) from leaving the company and working for the competitor within a certain amount of years, or from leaving a company and opening your own competing business (usually with a certain mile radius or zip code area). It's been the crux of many small-claims lawsuits, and the former employer (plaintiff) always wins.
“It is so profoundly unfree and unfair for people to be stuck in jobs they want to leave, not because they lacked better alternatives, but because noncompetes preclude another firm from fairly competing for their labor, requiring workers instead to leave their industries or their homes to make ends,” FTC Commissioner Rebecca Slaughter (D) said in prepared remarks.
Now that clause is no longer legal, thanks to a 3-2 vote today by the FTC banning such clauses. Employers who have these agreements with current and past employees must tell employees they are no longer in effect. The law takes effect 120 days after it's entered in the Federal Register.

He is another vintage beefcake I worried about speaking about due to circumstances but he is a part of the history so I will.
Forrester Wayne Dorlac was born on August 28, 1929 in Bernalillo County, New Mexico. When he was a child his family moved to Missouri, where they would live until he was a teen. During WWII his family decided to leave Missouri and moved to Los Angeles, California. He was an athletic youth and taking gymnastics. He also loved to workout. It was 1946 and he was 16 years old and loved to go to Muscle Beach to workout with all the other gym bros of the time (who were almost always older than him) and learn from them on how they workout etc. While he was working out one day he began noticing that men who don’t even work out(who he assumed were “queer”) would show up to watch him working out. As the days went by, more and more gay men came to watch this teenage Adonis workout, and he began generating small crowds. Forrester was confused by it at first but ended up liking the feeling of being admired and adored. Word of mouth got to Bob Mizer, who decided to come down to Muscle Beach and see this teenage beauty for himself.
Bob Mizer went down to Muscle Beach and saw Forrester with his own eyes, and immediately approached him despite finding him to be short. He let Forrester know he is a professional photographer who photographs buff models to show off their muscles for his magazine to motivate other men to workout more and give tips. He then asked Forrester if he wanted to come back to his mother’s place and see some of his work and Forrester obliged. While at his mother’s he showed Forrester some of his work and then asked if he wanted to become one of his models, as he had the perfect build to be a top physique model and buttered him up with endless praise and adoration. Forrester said yes then Mizer went and got a jockstrap and told him to put it on, that he would be recreating poses of a classical Greek statue. He did his first photoshoot on the spot at 16. After taking the photos Mizer realized he just took photos of a minor and decided to give Forrester the stage name Forrest Millard. Forrest became the very first catalogued model for pioneering photographer Bob Mizer's Athletic Model Guild (AMG) after that photoshoot, sadly at just 16 years old. Some nudes were taken as well and Bob sold the photos by mail order through his company, the Athletic Model Guild, and, beginning in 1951, Physique Pictorial, the first magazine aimed at a gay male audience (although it claimed to be for fitness enthusiasts, being a gay magazine under the guise of a fitness magazine).
Forrest did 15 more photoshoots for Mizer over the course of 14 years and posed for numerous other magazines and photographers as well.
Forrest worked with Mizer exclusively until 1954 when he decided to branch out and did a photoshoot with Irv Johnson for “Tomorrows Man” becoming the new face of the Table of Contents in late 1954 (taking over that spot from 16 year old Glenn Bishop).
In 1958 Forrester did a few shoots with another model to create homoerotic images to sell. Those images would keep being reprinted in numerous magazines throughout the 1960s, even after Forrest retired.
In 1960 Forrest retired from modeling and left LA. He moved to Washington and met a woman and got married in the late 70s. Unlike some other beefcake models, he was never ashamed of his past and even did an interview in 2009. During this interview he learned that many gay men over the years loved him. Surprised that he was still remembered by some, he was gratified that he’d impacted gay culture and helped countless men on their journey to coming out.
He died in 2011 of supposed heart failure. His wife of over 30 years by that point was with him the entire time.

Not too much info exists about Jerry. He was in his early 20s when he was discovered and recruited to do Physical Pictorial in 1955. He was a bodybuilder who would put on shows with peers on the beach in Los Angeles.
In 1953 he entered Mr. Muscle Beach and placed 3rd. That was his first competition.
In 1954 he entered Mr. America but did not place. After that he entered Mr. Apollo and won. He then entered Jr. Mr. America and placed 3rd. He then entered Mr. Muscle Beach and won!
In 1955 he entered Mr. America and placed 7th. He then entered Mr. California and won. After that he entered Mr. Los Angeles and won. He then entered Mr. Southern California and won.
After this he stopped doing bodybuilding comps and only did the Physique mags briefly. He did a few photoshoots in 1955 and that was it. Those images would continue to be reused over the years, with one of them even being used as the cover to a magazine in 1959, years after it was taken.
He sure was nice to look at.

LONDON − A conservative majority in Britain's Parliament pushed through a controversial plan to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda, capping a fight that critics blasted as an expensive, inhumane and impractical way to deal with immigration.
British lawmakers won support Monday night with the measure aimed at satisfying one of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's legislative priorities: "stopping the boats." Specifically, the small inflatable dinghies and even kayaks filled with thousands of migrants and asylum seekers who cross the English Channel each year from France.
Opponents noted the plan may cost more per head than a three-year stay at The Ritz; it may be incompatible with international human rights law. It may not even be, experts say, an effective policy.

She was too often paranoid and timid, but occasionally quite bad-tempered woman who thought way too much about what the neighbours thought. She could drive me mad without even trying.
She was wonderful. She was funny and we laughed together a lot. Even when she was old and losing her vitality, she was instinctively kind. I often thought she should have been a therapist because she could get anyone to talk to her, and she always made people feel better about their problems. She was the only person who I know was always on my side, no matter what. She would have done anything for me, and I would give almost anything to spend a night in her living room again, just chatting about nothing and enjoying her not-very-good, but comforting cooking.
I’m not sure why I’m posting this here. I guess I just want to acknowledge her. God, I really miss her. It’s my birthday tomorrow, and I’m going to find a charity to donate to in her name. I’m so lucky I had her in my life.

I've been squawking for years that we have so little info on this woman who had the office next to him. She was barely mentioned during the 1/6 hearings and except for a couple repeated profiles, avoided as a topic by the media. Repeatedly, when her name comes up, there's an awkward pause and the host bails out. WHET to Michael Wolfe who called it from day 1?
She saw everything, everyday and she's BARELY been discussed, until now. IMO, Sshe's the star (fucking) witness. The scripts are already being written.

“ Word on the street is that the recent announcement of four movies about the same story may be because two are about to speak their truth. Or, rather, one on behalf of a deceased partner. Apparently, in his eighties, he's beginning to realize that the person he wanted to pass before he spilled the beans is still clinging to life, albeit at the farm upstate rather than overlooking Central Park West, and with relatives of theirs collaborating recently on a song, he thinks maybe it might be time.
(P.S. The four-way split was suggested so that half the group wouldn't play the background, as they have in the entire history of that story to date.)”
Rumors say he believes she had something to do with Lennon’s death. Who knows.

A fantastic Italianate style brick house of 2720 square feet with 3-bedrooms and 3 baths that looks to be in great condition. The kitchen needs finishing off to taste (there is a nice ca. 1900 pantry it looks like). The detailing is handsome and well restored (though the woodwork was almost certainly painted originally.) The main rooms are very nice and the unusual glazed side porch (ca.1900) is fantastic and girded with radiators against, well, Troy. There's a large three-bay garage with tall loft space above and 8'brick walls (51'x 200' lot.)
The location though is nothing but a sinking feeling. The crime index is poor. Itś by far the most expensive old house in Troy for sale. There's a look of dread in the snaggletoothed blocks of scattered houses set amidst large gaps of green, many of which were presumably built upon at some more prosperous time.
But the house itself...

Lana: "I haven’t liked Lana since she covered a John Denver song,” she said of the “Young & Beautiful” singer. “Up until ‘Take Me Home Country Roads’ I thought she was great.”
Beyonce: "I mean, I like the idea of Beyoncé doing a country record because it’s about Black women going into spaces where previously only white women have been allowed, not that I like it much,” she said. “As a concept, I love it. I just don’t like her music.”
Madonna: "I don't like her and she doesn't like me."

“ This actress is an offspring and has an actress offspring too. She has gone through multiple pool companies over the past few years. When I say multiple, I mean about two dozen in three years. It began during the pandemic when she was in the need for company and started showing up topless to her pool each day the pool guy would come visit. Then, she would be naked and eventually started sleeping with every pool guy one company sent. A couple wives of the pool workers complained and it was on to the next pool company and the next. Apparently, over the past couple of months she finally locked into one company that heard about her special requests and found a couple single guys to rotate for her pool services. They also raised their monthly prices. She pays about ten times what anyone else pays for pool service.”
Who do we think the actress is who keeps running through hot pool boys?

Taylor Swift’s new album The Tortured Poets Department was always destined to enjoy a massive welcome on streaming platforms. Less than a day after it was released, the set has already broken an important record—one which few could have predicted she’d shatter so quickly.
According to Billboard, The Tortured Poets Department has already earned the honor of being the album with the most streams in a single day on Spotify so far this year. The streaming platform confirmed the news to the music industry-focused outlet.
The report didn’t state a number of plays, but it must be massive. Before The Tortured Poets Department arrived, Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter stood as the title with the most streams in a single day. That project scored its lofty debut just a few weeks ago.

Federal, transportation and union leaders gathered in Las Vegas Monday to drive spikes into a symbolic rail, marking the beginning of construction for a $12 billion high-speed rail line that will link Las Vegas and the Los Angeles area.
“People have been dreaming of high-speed rail in America for decades,” Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said Monday ahead of the groundbreaking ceremony. “It’s really happening this time.”
Brightline West, the only private passenger rail company operating high-speed service in the country, is expected to build a 218-mile intercity passenger rail system between Las Vegas and Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., where it would connect with Los Angeles’s existing regional rail system.

On the April 19 episode of her podcast misSPELLING, the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum, 50, shared her response when fans ask why she hasn’t been cast on the hit Bravo series.
"I'm like, I don't know," Spelling said. "Once, I asked Andy Cohen, who I love and have known forever, been on his show many times. He was like, 'Yeah, we keep getting this question.'"
"And I'm like, 'So, Andy, what's the answer?'” she continued. "He was like, 'Ehh, I don't know. You and the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills? I can't see it.'"
The actress recalled Cohen, 55, asking her if she already knew the cast of the series.
In response, she told the Housewives executive, “Every single one of them I am friends with and have known forever and have a history.”

In the absence of transitional centres, Border Patrol agents are now dropping off some 900 people a day at bus and train stations in San Diego, a city of around 1.3 million people. At the Iris Avenue Transit Center, a swelling crowd of migrants milled around on a Sunday afternoon earlier this month, exhausted and relieved.
"It used to be in the Obama administration, in the Trump administration, and Bush and even Clinton, that migrants coming across the border illegally would run from border patrol agents. Now they're running to them," Jim Desmond, San Diego County Commissioner said. "And they're being processed and being dropped off and jumping ahead of the line. And anytime you have some entity that allows people to jump ahead of the line, chaos ensues."

In honor of her 90th birthday this month, I thought it would be fun to discuss the great American actress Shirley MacLaine.
The older sister of Warren Beatty, her professor parents pushed her to be a ballerina, where she was successful, until she broke her ankle and was told she "didn't have the ballerina look." She then set her sights on acting and couldn't be stopped.
Her first film was with Hitchcock, her second with Dean Martin, and by her third she was nominated for an Academy Award. By the early 1960's she was a star, appearing in a wide range of films such as The Apartment, The Turning Point, Terms of Endearment, and Bernie.
By the mid-2020's, she is still at the top of the Hollywood A-List. She is still quick witted and brutally honest. And she is still having the time of her life!

“As you know, my son has graduated from high school, and it looks like the judge will not let me go through the graduation of my son, who's worked very, very hard. He's a great student,” Trump said to reporters outside a New York courtroom. “He's very proud of the fact that he did so well and was looking forward for years to have graduation with his mother and father there.”
“It looks like the judge isn't going to allow me to escape this scam. It's a scam trial,” Trump said. “It's a political witch hunt.”

School administrators in New Jersey are warning parents about another concerning social-media challenge that can put kids in danger.
Lynn Irby Hill, the principal at the South Orange Middle School in South Orange, sent out a letter to parents Tuesday about the "blackout challenge" becoming popular on TikTok.
The challenge involves students holding their breath until they pass out and there have been deaths reported as a result of kids participating in the challenge.
"These incidents are very scary and very avoidable. We will continue to warn our students about the dangers of the 'blackout challenge' and most, if not all, challenges promoted on social media," Hill said in the letter.
The school reported two incidents of students passing out.
Aid was rendered to one of the students by the school's nursing staff while the other had to be transported to the hospital after having difficulty breathing once they regained consciousness.
Hill asked parents to help by discussing the dangers associated with the social media challenge with their children at home.

My sister-in-law is a single mom and her adult son moved back home three years ago due to rent else being too high. He's 38 and she's 54.
She was a teen mom and the dad was only in the picture for the first year before abandoning them, then it was just her and the son living together. The son was always a moody, difficult little prick who threw tantrums constantly and pretty much did what he wanted. My SIL is a rather meek person, so aside from yelling at him a few times, never really stood up to him or disciplined him.
Luckily, the son has a type A personality and always did well in school, so he has a good career in the financial sector but has always stayed close to home for money reasons. He didn't move out until he was 25 the first time because he was saving up a nest egg so he wouldn't be living on a tight budget, came back at 31 to save up again, then somehow found a girlfriend to live with, then they broke up (this girlfriend ranted on facebook about him being a hoarder), and he moved back home again to save up money. Now, three years have passed and he's still living at home with the mother, saving up money to buy his dream home. He admits that he has no plan on leaving until he has every penny saved for his dream home because he doesn't want a mortgage.
My sister-in-law insists it wouldn't be a problem if they actually got along, but they don't have a close relationship and he always seems annoyed by her/barely talks to her. He's a messy pig who has destroyed her home, yet again. He leaves dirty clothes and dishes everywhere and refuses to admit they stink, so when she asks him to clean up, he stubbornly refuses and then she has to do it, otherwise the house will stink. He's a cheap-ass bitch who refuses to buy new furniture, so all his pieces are ancient, second-hand and they smell (mattress, bedroom sofa, curtains). The furniture, which he brought from his old apartment, smells like sweat, stale body odour. I've been to the house, and there is a terrible odour when crossing his room.
He plays loud videos up in his room---meditation videos and finance/politics videos. He refuses to turn down the volume. He drilled an exercise bar into a weak ceiling in the hallway, so now that portion of the ceiling if caving in--he's also damaged the walls in his own room, the bathroom and the attic. He uses heavy exercise equipment in his room and skips rope, weightlifts and kickboxes at night. It sounds like a construction site, with all that slamming and banging. He also plays tennis against the walls indoors and has put dents in it. The mother has told him to stop, that he's damaging the house, but he says it's not a big deal because it's his room and he sees no damage.
He has a rolling exercise wheel that he uses all over the house, so now the carpet is rippling up because of it. Because of this wheel, the carpet has bumps all over--the stairs, the living room, the kitchen. Aside from that, he's a hoarder, who has baskets of junk all over the house. He refuses to let her throw anything away, yells at her if she even attempts to move the junk out of the way. Also has a variety of junk in the garden that he refuses to throw away (scooter, an old metal shelf, an old kickboxing dummy) Within weeks of moving in, he planted a row of cactus trees, and refuses to let the mother remove them even though she hates them and constantly complains about them. She explained to him so many times that she doesn't want spikey cactuses infront of her doorstep because they stab her ankles but he does not care. He just insists they are his plants and nobody is to touch them. My sister in law chopped one down a few months ago when he was away on a business trip, and when he returned home HE WENT NUTS and punched a whole in the wall.
I'm rambling, but is this what happens when a boy grows up without a father? Do they need a male figure to put them in their place? Because it seems to me, these men just walk all over their mothers because they've never had authority figure say "shut the fuck up, you're the kid here, behave yourself."

I'm really loving it.
Jared the Bosun is hilarious and weird. He seems stoned most of the time.
Fraser is being an absolute cunt this season. What crawled up his tight ass? And why does he keep calling himself "Mother?"
At first I didn't like Cat, but after hearing her story, I feel bad for her. I'm almost forced to like her.
Barbie is a feisty Latina firecracker.
Not sure what's the trip with Xandi, but she's just odd.
Sunny is cute. She and Ben would make a nice couple, if Ben didn't keep throwing her under the bus.
Kyle is cute too. His Irish accent makes him better looking than he actually is, though.
Speaking of Kyle and Ben, I am LOVING the shots in their cabin, where they keep exposing their bare asses to each other (and us)! On the show, Ben comes across as a total womanizer, but I swear, something about him is very gay. I especially loved the scene where he was rubbing lotion all over Kyle's back - all the way down to his exposed ass!
And the French Chef. He's tres gay, even though he is trying to pretend that he's straight.
I loved his hilarious story about how he got married at 26. Then his uncle offered his wife a job on a yacht as a Stewardess, and she never contacted him again. So he said now it's just him and his cat. Rofl!! Honey, your wife knows you're gay!
This season is very entertaining.

It seemed like she was everywhere in the late 2000s/early 2010s but you barely hear about her nowadays. Great actress. I rewatched Nine the other day and it’s not a good movie, but she’s easily the best thing about it. Should’ve been Oscar nominated for her performance instead of Penelope Cruz.

Now that she's been dead for a while I have to confess, I don't think she was a very good Queen. She was a cipher. People projected a lot, invested a lot in her outward behavior, but basically she seemed deeply ordinary. Nothing much to her at all. I don't miss her and in a way, I am embarrassed at how I was sucked in by the hype. The only true claim she can make is that she served longer than anyone else. I guess that's something. I was remembering what George V admonished his sons. "Without the mystery, the monarchy will die." He didn't want the people to become too familiar with them. But in Charles I feel like he is a much better king, already, than his late mother was. And Anne, Sophie Edward William and Catherine look much happier and enthusiastic about their duties. I'm certainly seeing more smiles from them and less formality. I will go so far as to say Elizabeth II was an old stick in the mud bound to tradition and stifling in her rigidity. I wish she had retired 20 years before she died.

Things I am not envious of/things people on Twitter appear to think I am envious of:
Silicon tits
Hideous sports cars that cost more than my house
$14 bottles of "champagne"
$140 bottles of "champagne"
Hookers pouring bourbon in frat boys' mouths
Herpes
Bad dancing
All-marble bathrooms
Unprotected anal
Elon Musk
Donald Trump
Andrew Tate
Ashley St. Clair's pus-filled snatch
An electric truck that does not work
Bitcoin
Gun ranges
The ability to lift a heavy object and then put it down again
Houses full of can lights and gym equipment
Gold-plated anything
Refusing to take vaccines
In-your-face racism/etc.
Despite never posting anything related to the above, my (company) Twitter feed is now crammed full of ugly twats demanding I acknowledge their superiority in liking these things.
I think I now spend half the time I do on Twitter blocking them.
Has anyone with a corporate/company/professional/etc. Twitter feed simply shut it off? I have connections I'd like to keep up with and I still get some great content by select professionals (architectural photography and real estate leads) but am wondering if overall it's worth it.

Jim Stryker was a blonde, blue-eyed, physique model who epitomized an era of muscle-headed beefcakes, free-spirited playboy jocks, and beach boys.
Jim Stryker was discovered by photographer Walter Kundzicz and was one of the very first “Beefcake” models.
Stryker was fresh out of high school when he met photographer Walter Kundzicz (a.k.a. Champion) in the summer of 1952. In search of new subjects for a growing portfolio of young male models, Champ traveled specifically to a rural swimming hole to meet the beautiful blonde youth. Upon arrival, he was greeted with the breathtaking sight of a fully naked 18-year-old in a tree, laughing uproariously as he urinated on a friend standing below.
Jim and Champ hit it off at once and the photographer proceeded with the first of 21 separate photo sessions with the boy. These photographs quickly turned him into the first (and still most enduringly popular) gay icons of all time.
Kundzicz’s first catalog was dedicated only to Jim Stryker, who turned out to be his best-selling model for over seven years. These works were captured on Fire Island and remain some of the most searched to this day.
Champion’s magazines of Stryker were every gay boy’s fantasy. In a time where sexuality was repressed in the mainstream, Fire Island came to represent a place of mystery and a gay haven for many. While much about Jim Stryker remains unknown, his blonde beauty against the liberated setting of Fire Island remains a snapshot in time of a refuge for young gay boys of the time.

I'm pretty gifted down there. Which has brought me quite a few experiences both good and bad.
All these experiences have brought me to a point where I really don't know what to do with my sexuality and my endowment, I don't know if I like it or hate it.
I have felt turned into a sex object, been raped (it was years ago now) and sexually harassed, and while I know logically it's not my fault, I can't help but feel that it is.
I don't know what to do, I feel at a point where I love the attention it gives me and feel it's the only thing that maintains some of my ego and my self esteem, but I can't but despise the fact that despite what I've been through I'm still displaying my endowment, and feeling like I don't have much more to contribute in life.
I know I should go to a psychologist, but I don't feel like I have enough energy to do it.

The hunt for the origins of COVID-19 has gone dark in China, the victim of political infighting after a series of stalled and thwarted attempts to find the source of the virus that killed millions and paralyzed the world for months.
The Chinese government froze meaningful domestic and international efforts to trace the virus from the first weeks of the outbreak, despite statements supporting open scientific inquiry, an Associated Press investigation found. That pattern continues to this day, with labs closed, collaborations shattered, foreign scientists forced out and Chinese researchers barred from leaving the country.
The investigation drew on thousands of pages of undisclosed emails and documents and dozens of interviews that showed the freeze began far earlier than previously known and involved political and scientific infighting in China as much as international finger-pointing.
Scientists warn the willful blindness over coronavirus’ origins leaves the world vulnerable to another outbreak, potentially undermining pandemic treaty talks coordinated by the World Health Organization set to culminate in May.

... according to Sherwood Schwartz.
[quote] Schwartz said that Davis never married. And while he knew her, she never had a relationship either, which, for the decade, was odd. So her choice to remain single caused rumors to spread. The producer revealed that he spoke with Davis about her personal life on one occasion, and the actress illuded that a bad relationship made her swear off men for good. And in turn, she never had the chance to start a family of her own.
[quote]“She was never married and everybody suspected that she was gay. [Ann] and I actually talked about it and she said, ‘No, I have lots of issues, but that’s not one of them,’” Lloyd continued. “She told me she once had a relationship, I think with a married guy or something, and it ended badly. I don’t know that she ever had anything else after that. But that’s almost apocryphal.”
Mmm. Ann B. was deeply religious. I suspect she was stuck in the closet somewhere back in Narnia. Poor Alice!

I live in Europe so I was able to watch it and am aware that it did not air in the states (as most foreign series don’t) but I was told you can find the series to stream on those websites, and the version with the English subtitles.
If you do not understand Italian nor do you like reading subtitles do not waist your time, but if you do not mind, I will just say I enjoyed it.
No, it is not perfect, but I enjoyed the atmosphere the show created, the sexuality between the two leads, the acting is terrific and some of the scenery and cinematography are beautiful.
It is about two very young Italians who are traveling through Spain (separately), who happen to end up meeting and exploring together and really loving one another until they part ways. However, they keep in touch via letters and emails for over 20 years and always plan to meet up again but never do, until one day they finally do meet up again and those old feelings they had for one another 20 years prior come rushing back. I love the actors playing the older versions of their characters. The younger actors are great too but they look nothing like their older counterparts. At all. That has been the biggest criticism of this series from critics.
It’s a romantic drama and 6 episodes, and the series jumps back and forth between them while young to them now in their 40s.
The trailer below is in Italian but if you watch it on the YouTube app/site you can turn on English subtitles.
“Un Amore” aka “One Love” aka “My Love” (as IMDb has titled it).

We have wasted several blood-soaked decades on the obscene dream of annexing the territories and expelling the Palestinian population there. Israel steadfastly refused to make peace on the basis of the Saudi Initiative of 2002, unanimously endorsed by the Arab League, which could and should have led to a normalization of Israel’s relations with much of the Arab-Islamic world. The Saudi Initiative, also called the Arab Peace Initiative, offered an end to the Arab–Israeli conflict if Israel would withdraw from all the occupied territories (with minor territorial adjustments to be negotiated), a settlement of the Palestinian refugee problem on the basis of UN Resolution 194, and the creation of a Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem.
The Palestinian Authority accepted the plan immediately, as did the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, with its fifty-seven member states. (It describes itself as “the collective voice of the Muslim world.”) There was never a good reason to reject that plan as the starting point for negotiations on final status—that is, peace. Instead, the right-wing governments of Ariel Sharon and later Netanyahu have done whatever they could to undermine the plan (this includes Netanyahu’s persistent funding for Hamas, via Qatar, as a way to divide Gaza from the West Bank, thus precluding the possibility of a Palestinian state). It’s not so hard to prevent peace from breaking out.

The original Fallout games which came out in the late 90s had excellent storytelling, but the modern entries have left much to be desired. That being said, the setting and world itself has always been compelling in the games. The universe of Fallout is an alternate timeline of Earth's history. It's a retrofuturist world with a 1950s sci-fi aesthetic. i asked chat gpt to summarize the setting to make it easier.
'In the Fallout universe, an alternate history unfolds where the world diverged from ours after World War II, adopting a retrofuturistic aesthetic centered around atomic technology. The United States and China become embroiled in a resource war, escalating into a devastating conflict. The Great War of 2077 culminates in a nuclear apocalypse, transforming the world into a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Vault-Tec, a pre-war corporation, constructs underground vaults to shelter select citizens from the devastation.'
vault-tec is a company that built nuclear survival shelters all across the usa, but most of them are actually designed to be cruel social experiments with human guinea pigs. Most of the games have you leaving a vault to explore and interact with the outside post-apocalyptic world - with humans trying to rebuild society amongst mutants and monsters created by radiation. The games are highly acclaimed and Fallout is considered to be one of the greatest franchises in gaming history. fallout 1, 2, and new vegas are particularly known for good writing.

LGBTQ RIGHTS Gov. Greg Abbott Wants to ‘End’ Trans Teachers Expressing Their Gender in Texas "This type of behavior is not okay. And this is the type of behavior that we want to make sure we end in the state of Texas," the governor said this weekend PETER WADE APRIL 21, 2024 4:08PM Texas Gov. Greg Abbott suggested that he wants to end transgender and gender nonconforming individuals from expressing their gender while teaching in the state.
At a speech delivered Friday at the Young Conservatives of Texas convention, Abbott described a report of a high school teacher who wore feminine clothing rather than clothing that matched their gender assigned at birth. Abbott said this teacher “was a man who would go to school dressed as a woman in a dress, high heels, and makeup” and declared that he wants to “end” that “type of behavior” in the state. Texas Observer reporter Steven Monacelli was at the speech and captured Abbott’s remarks on audio: “Just up the street from where we are right now is Lewisville, Texas. In Lewisville, Texas, in the high school, recently — as in just a month ago — they had a high school teacher who was a man who would go to school dressed as a woman in a dress, high heels, and makeup. Now, what do you think is going through the mind of the students that’s in that classroom? Are they focusing on the subject that this person is trying to teach? I don’t know. What I do know are these two things: One is this person, a man, dressing as a woman, in a public high school in the state of Texas, he’s trying to normalize the concept that this type of behavior is OK. This type of behavior is not OK, and this is the type of behavior that we want to make sure we end in the state of Texas.” Because of a Supreme Court decision, Bostock v. Clayton County, LGBTQ individuals are a protected class under federal law that bars discrimination in the workplace. Earlier this month, a federal judge temporarily blocked a Florida law that prevented a transgender teacher from using pronouns that do not align with their sex assigned at birth. This case stems from the state’s “Don’t Say Gay” law that has been successfully challenged in other courts under the First Amendment, striking down provisions that attempted to censor teachers from mentioning LGBTQ individuals on school grounds and prohibited them from displaying family photos if they were in an LGBTQ relationship. “This time,” U.S. District Judge Mark Walker wrote in his decision to temporarily block the law, “the State of Florida declares that it has the absolute authority to redefine your identity if you choose to teach in a public school. So, the question before this Court is whether the First Amendment permits the State to dictate, without limitation, how public-school teachers refer to themselves when communicating to students. The answer is a thunderous ‘no.’” Monacelli noted that after Abbott’s remarks, a number of conservative politicians in Texas came out in support of a ban on teachers dressing in ways that do not line up with their gender assigned at birth. They include Texas GOP Chair Matt Rinaldi, Republican state Rep. Briscoe Cain (who tweeted, “Perverts should not be teachers,” falsely equating trans individuals with perversion), Republican state Rep. Brent Money, and State Republican Executive Committee In Texas, Abbott has declared an assault on trans youth rights. In June of last year, he signed legislation that banned trans youth from accessing transition-related care such as hormone therapy and puberty blockers. Two months later the American Academy of Pediatrics reiterated its support for youth having access to gender-related treatments. Similar laws across the country have forced families with trans children to leave their states in order to access treatment. LGBTQ rights groups, including PFLAG and the American Civil Liberties Union, have filed lawsuits challenging the Texas law. © 2024 PMC. All rights reserved.

Hugh O'Brian (born Hugh Charles Krampe) was born in Rochester, NY on April 19, 1925 and died on September 5, 2016 at 91 years old.
Hugh was born in Rochester but his family moved to Lancaster, PA when he was 5 after his father became executive of the Armstrong Cork Company, where they would live for around four years before moving to Chicago, Illinois after his father got a promotion offer for the Chicago branch (later, in 1963 Hugh O'Brian was awarded the key to the city by Lancaster Mayor George Coe.) Chicago is where the family would remain. They lived in Winnetka, Illinois.
Hugh attended the University of Cincinnati for one semester before dropping out to enlist in the Marine Corps during WWII at the age of 17, making him the youngest Marine drill instructor ever (still today). After WWII ended he planned to go back to college to become a lawyer, and was accepted to Yale University! However, he began dating an aspiring actress and was with her in Hollywood. She was in a play and he would attend her rehearsals. One day the lead actor failed to show up so the director of the play asked him to read lines. He was so good that he landed the role and the other actor was let go. The play went on to receive amazing reviews and an agent reached out to him offering him a contract! He decided to change his name from Hugh Krampe to Hugh O’Brian for the entertainment industry (his mother’s family name was O’Brien but when someone misspelled it as O’Brian he decided to keep it that way).
He worked consistently in mostly B films but his big break came in 1955 when he landed the role of lawman Wyatt Earp on ABC, making him a TV star. The series became a hit and spearheaded the “adult Western” tv genre along with Gunsmoke and Cheyenne, which debuted the same year as Wyatt. Wyatt Earp ran from 1955-1961 and was in the Top 10 ratings all of its six seasons.
While starring on his own show he did make guest appearances on other television shows and that continued into the 1960s. He also starred in numerous films throughout the 1960s. In 1971 he starred in a Pilot for a series that would become the series “Search”, which lasted only one season (1972-1973). In 1976 he starred in the John Wayne flick “The Shootist” and then In 1977 he was one of the featured actors for the 2 hour premiere of “Fantasy Island”. In the early 90s he reprised his role as Wyatt Earp in 3 different projects, including an indie flick.
In June of 2006 he married his girlfriend of 18 years (who was 27 years younger than him). She was his first and only marriage, as he never cared to get married and was more of a playboy throughout his life than a family man (despite having one son after he knocked up a photographer) but she made an honest man out of him. She was a teacher and they spent their honeymoon studying at Oxford University. Hugh was a strong lover and believer of the importance of education and believed "an active mind is as important as an active body.".
There have been 3 people since his death who have come forward claiming he was their biological father ( not counting the one son he did have). He certainly was a beautiful man who got around. Women loved him.
In 1958 Hugh started the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Foundation (HOBY), a nonprofit youth leadership-development program for high-school scholars. HOBY sponsors 10,000 high school sophomores annually through its over 70 leadership programs in all 50 states and 20 countries.

Madonna's attorneys on Thursday filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit against the pop superstar for starting a concert two hours late, arguing the plaintiffs didn't demonstrate any clear injuries, court documents show.
Plaintiffs Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden filed the lawsuit earlier this year after attending one of Madonna's global Celebration Tour shows in Brooklyn in December, alleging they were "misled" by the 8:30 p.m. advertised start time.
They also sued Barclays Center and Live Nation for "wanton exercise in false advertising, negligent misrepresentation, and unfair and deceptive trade practices."
The plaintiffs argued they wouldn't have purchased tickets if they'd known the concert was going to start at 10:30 p.m. They also claimed the show's end time of about 1 a.m. possibly inconvenienced or injured concertgoers as a result of limited transportation options and being forced to stay up later than planned.
Madonna's lawyers argued that concerts rarely start on time, and that hers in particular are well known for their late starts. They also pointed out that Hadden posted on Facebook the day after that concert that he had "never missed a Madonna Tour" and that he later told CNN he had "been to every Madonna tour since 1985," making it clear the late start time couldn't have come as a surprise, the motion read.
According to the court documents, Hadden also praised the show on Facebook, calling it "[i]ncredible, as always!"
"Mr. Hadden's press interviews at best suggest he may be irritated that one of his favorite acts takes the stage later than he would prefer," the lawyers said, arguing that this was not sufficient grounds for a claim of injury.
Madonna's lawyers also alleged there was no proof the late start time injured any concertgoers, including the plaintiffs, who they argued stayed to watch the whole show instead of leaving early.
"Fans got just what they paid for: a full-length, high-quality show by the Queen of Pop," Madonna's lawyers said.
January's lawsuit wasn't the first time fans tried to take action over Madonna's late start time. In 2019, a Florida fan sued over Madonna's delayed start in Miami Beach.
"There's something that you all need to understand," Madonna told her fans during a Las Vegas concert in 2019. "And that is, that a queen is never late."

I can’t stand hearing it. It’s used far too often and inappropriately. There’s a few people at work that include it in some form in practically every sentence with zero discretion regarding the circumstances or audiences.

Cinnamon is a spice obtained from the inner bark of several tree species from the genus Cinnamomum. Cinnamon is used mainly as an aromatic condiment and flavouring additive in a wide variety of cuisines, sweet and savoury dishes, breakfast cereals, snack foods, bagels, teas, hot chocolate and traditional foods. The aroma and flavour of cinnamon derive from its essential oil and principal component, cinnamaldehyde, as well as numerous other constituents including eugenol.
Cinnamon has been known from remote antiquity. It was imported to Egypt as early as 2000 BC, but those who reported that it had come from China had confused it with Cinnamomum cassia, a related species. Cinnamon was so highly prized among ancient nations that it was regarded as a gift fit for monarchs and even for a deity; an inscription records the gift of cinnamon and cassia to the temple of Apollo at Miletus.
In Ancient Egypt, cinnamon was used to embalm mummies. From the Ptolemaic Kingdom onward, Ancient Egyptian recipes for kyphi, an aromatic used for burning, included cinnamon and cassia. The gifts of Hellenistic rulers to temples sometimes included cassia and cinnamon.

This is a political movement intended to cause as much chaos and instability as possible, which are the exact goals of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The regime of the Islamic Republic has on multiple occasions, stated clearly that their goal is to destroy the modern society and build a global Islamic state.”
Beheshti further states that the rallies in Western countries are organized “directly in line with the mission of the Islamic Republic” and ordered by the IRGC.
In an interview with Iran International earlier Monday, Beheshti emphasized that the IRGC uses brainwashing tactics targeting youth in Western countries to cause chaos with such rallies being an example of these tactics.

According to police, the old man had been contacted that day by phone scammers claiming they had kidnapped a relative of his and would kill them unless Gramps paid a ransom. Around the same time, someone (perhaps the same scammer) requested an Uber package pickup at the old man's house. The job was claimed by 61 year-old Lo-Letha Hall, who showed up minutes later to pick up the package she was sent to retrieve. When she arrived, Old Fart pulled an ancient pistol on her, accusing her of being in cahoots with the scammers. He grabbed her phone and held her at gunpoint. When she tried to flee back to her car, he blew her away. The whole thing was captured on the woman's dashcam.
He's being charged with murder, and will likely spend the rest of his life in prison. Senile degenerate.
Somebody needs to take phones away from old fucks. And driver's licenses. And handguns. Just put them in nice little morgue drawers and let them wait out the inevitable without killing normal people.

Except for the Great Pyramid of Giza, various factors such as wars, the decline of civilizations and natural disasters have led to the loss of these structures over time.
Great Pyramid of Giza (built in the early 26th century BCE)
Statue of Zeus at Olympia (colossal 40-foot tall gold and ivory statue in Greece; destroyed in the great fire of the Palace of Lausus in 475 AD)
Colossus of Rhodes (renowned 100-foot statue, portraying the Greek sun god Helios; destroyed in 226 BCE when an earthquake struck)
Temple of Artemis at Ephesus (dedicated to Artemis, Greek goddess of chastity, hunting, wild animals, forests and fertility; constructed and demolished three times; demise 401 CE)
Lighthouse of Alexandria (350-foot on Pharos island in the harbor of ancient Egypt; fell into disrepair following three earthquakes between 965 and 1323 CE)
Mausoleum at Halicarnassus (built in 350 BCE as a tomb for Mausolus, the ruler of Caria in ancient Asia Minor; demise due to earthquakes between 12th and 15th centuries)
Hanging Gardens of Babylon (believed to have existed c. 600 BCE; legend has it situated roughly 50 miles south of present-day Baghdad, Iraq)

WILMINGTON, N.C. — Former President Donald Trump canceled his North Carolina rally Saturday evening at the last minute, citing stormy weather as the cause.
Trump, who had not yet arrived to the event, called by phone to announce that the event was off as thunder and rain began to darken the outdoor rally.
"There seems to be some thunder and lightning. It’s a pretty big storm, so if you don’t mind, I think we’re going to have to just do a rain check," Trump said over the speaker system.
Following Trump's announcement, loud groans and shouts of disappointment were heard from the crowd before their swift departure.
It was set to be Trump's first rally since the start of his criminal trial in Manhattan.
Trump told the crowd that he planned to reschedule the event for a later time, promising a "rain check."
"What we’ll do is we’ll make up for this very quickly at another time, but we’ll do it as quick as possible," Trump said. "I’m so sad. I’m in North Carolina right now."
The event was taking place outdoors near the Wilmington airport. Though heavy rainfall had not yet began at the time of the cancellation, lightning strikes became increasingly visible, fueling safety concerns.
"We want to keep everybody safe. It’s the most important thing. We want everybody there to be 100% safe," Trump said.
This rally was scheduled to be Trump's second campaign event in North Carolina — a key swing state crucial to both Trump and Biden's path to victory. Trump narrowly carried the state in 2020 by a margin less than 1.5%.
Trump was in court most of the week for jury selection in his criminal trial, where he is charged with 34 counts of first-degree falsifying business records. Prosecutors allege that he falsified business records ahead of the 2016 election to hide payments to adult firm star Stormy Daniels.
Opening statements begin in the trial on Monday, and the trial is expected to last six to eight weeks.

The Academy’s Board of Governors has released the official awards rules and campaign promotional regulations for the 97th Academy Awards, to be held on March 2, 2025.
While the biggest change is the expansion of the theatrical requirements for Best Picture, there are other highlights of note. That includes animated feature films submitted for Best International Feature Film now being able to also submit for Best Animated Feature Film if eligibility requirements outlined for both categories are met. There’s also a new eligibility period for the Best International Feature Film — November 1, 2023, to September 30, 2024 — and Best Original Score now allowing three composers to receive individual statuettes if, in rare circumstances, they all contributed fully to the score. Plus, the screenplay categories now require a final shooting script to be part of submissions and a handful of overall name changes and/or clarifications for some of the awards The Academy hands out at the separate Governors Awards and Scientific and Technical Awards ceremonies.
Similarly, The Academy also updated and clarified formatting and language in the campaign promotional regulations for the 97th Oscars. Much of what was instated last year in wake of the “To Leslie” campaign scandal still stands, with the campaign promotional regulations specifying motion picture companies and individuals directly associated with Oscars-eligible motion pictures may promote such motion pictures, achievements, and performances to Academy members and how Academy members may promote Oscars-eligible motion pictures, achievements, and performances.
To elaborate on the theatrical requirement changes, the easiest thing to first highlight is that drive-in theaters will no longer be a means of qualification—one of the last vestiges of adaptations made during the peak of COVID-19.
Once again, for Academy Awards consideration, a feature film must have a qualifying theatrical release between January 1 and December 31 of this year, with Dallas/Fort Worth being added to the list of qualifying U.S. cities a film can open in for a one-week run in theaters (the others are Los Angeles County; the City of New York; the Bay Area; Chicago, Illinois; Miami, Florida; and Atlanta, Georgia).
After that one-week initial qualifying run in at least one of the aforementioned cities, a film then has to now meet the following additional theatrical standards for Best Picture eligibility:
Expanded theatrical run of seven days, consecutive or nonconsecutive, in 10 of the top 50 U.S. markets, no later than 45 days after the initial release in 2024.
For late-in-the-year films with expansions after January 10, 2025, distributors must submit release plans to the Academy for verification.
Release plans for late-in-the-year films must include a planned expanded theatrical run, as described above, to be completed no later than January 24, 2025.
Non-U.S. territory releases can count towards two of the 10 markets.
Qualifying non-U.S. markets include the top 15 international theatrical markets plus the home territory for the film. While those theatrical changes may seem like a bit of a pain for Netflix, which has so far been resistant toward robust theatrical runs for its films, the true concern is that the new rules make it even harder for lower-budget films from smaller distributors to have a chance at Best Picture. Using “To Leslie” as an example, the Oscar-nominated film only played in six theaters after its SXSW breakout.

Have you had personal failures? Did you make poor grades in school? Are you a drug addict? Alcoholic? Molested by family members? Cancer? Got fired for stealing or sexual harassment? Drowning in credit card debt? Caught an STD? Arrested for DUI? Mental illness? Are you fat? Small dick? Can’t get fucked by a 10? Smell bad? Your house is dirty? Car ran out of gas? Didn’t pay your electric bill?
Well… have we got the solution for you! Just blame it all on “WHITE COLONIZERS”. Every single thing in your life will feel better when you immediately shrug off all sense of responsibility by blaming WHITE COLONIZERS. You, your family, and your ancestors are perfect people, little angels, and every bad thing that ever happened to any of you is because of WHITE COLONIZERS!
Now don’t let it seem like if you were duped by these evil WHITE EUROPEAN MONSTERS for centuries that maybe you’re just not too intelligent, just remember that your ancestors invented EVERYTHING (wink, wink), were every place on earth first before those nasty, pasty trolls, and they stole it all from you because they are so evil. This solution will work for any individual with a deeper hue of epidermis than an intense khaki, who can frantically search their family tree for a small ethnic percentage of the highly sought-after victimhood genes.
Now your whole life is better, because you no longer have to take responsibility for your past or your destiny, knowing that EVIL WHITE COLONIZERS are to blame for EVERYTHING BAD: past, present and future!

Kaka's ex-wife, Caroline Celico, has revealed she divorced the AC Milan legend because she believed him to be 'too perfect' for her.
Celico and Kaka were childhood sweethearts and were married 10 years and had two children before deciding they should get a divorce. She claims that she felt there was "something missing" in their relationship because of the Brazilian icon being "too perfect". They divorced in 2015 and have both since remarried.
On the reason for their divorce, Celico said, according to The Sun: "Kaka never betrayed me, he treated me well, he gave me a wonderful family, but I was not happy, something was missing. The problem was, he was too perfect for me."

Rebel Wilson is calling Sacha Baron Cohen’s decision to release behind-the-scenes footage of their sex scene “an a–hole move,” after never-before-seen video from the set of the 2016 film “The Brothers Grimsby” was published Friday by the Daily Mail.
“Releasing unauthorized and misleading behind-the-scenes video without my approval is SBC’s latest way of bullying and gaslighting me,” the 44-year-old actress said in a statement to multiple outlets.
The newly released footage shows Wilson appearing to collaborate on the sex scene and discussing the choreography with Cohen — which he and producers claim she approved of after reading the script and before shooting began.
It appears to be the same scene Wilson has referenced in recent weeks, claiming Cohen pressured her into performing lewd acts.
The Australian actress can be heard talking with Cohen in the clip, saying, “I’ll do a slap [of your butt] and I’ll do a – going down the crack,” to which Cohen replies, “It’s almost as if you’re going to ram your fingers inside.”
Wilson then answers simply, “Yeah.”
But the actress claims the footage is taken out of context, and left out “everything that preceded it including [her] horrified refusal” when Cohen initially asked her to stick her finger in his rectum.
Wilson recently revealed Cohen to be the “a—hole” she references in her upcoming memoir, “Rebel Rising,” which drops Tuesday.
In the book, she reportedly claims that the events which transpired on the “Grimsby” set were not consensual and that Cohen once even pulled his pants down in front of her, completely unprompted.
Now, Cohen and his representatives are reportedly trying to keep the book from being published.
“While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of The Brothers Grimsby,” Cohen’s reps told BBC News and other outlets in a statement.
For her part, Wilson has said she will not let Cohen stand in her way.
“I will not be bullied or silenced by high-priced lawyers or PR crisis managers,” she wrote to her Instagram story on March 24.

I was chatting to a man in his late 30s on an app and we got on to speaking about hobbies. I said I enjoyed seeing fringe theatre and he said he'd never been to the theatre.
I was quite taken aback by that, I did not press the point (for example saying "Surely your parents took you to a panto?"), but it made me think less of him. I'm in the UK, where I think there's more of a theatre-going culture than some other countries. But am I just being horribly middle class?
I think I'd be more judgmental if someone said they never read books or did not like music.

The former soccer star's company, David Beckham Ventures Ltd [DBVL], alleges that Wahlberg's firm, Mark Wahlberg Investment Group [MWIG], along with F45 gym group founders Adam Gilchrist and Rob Deutsch, "duped" Beckham into becoming a global ambassador for F45 in 2020.
According to The Sun, DB Ventures Ltd claims that shares in F45 were promised to Beckham's firm early in 2022 as part of a deal. However, Beckham suffered substantial financial losses when the promised stocks were not delivered until after their value plummeted from around $12 to $3 per share. His legal team claims this delay cost him up to $10.5 million [£8.5 million] in potential profit.
In response, Wahlberg and his co-defendants refute the "fraudulent conduct" allegations and seek dismissal of the lawsuit, arguing that DB Ventures Ltd is deflecting responsibility, noting that "The 209-page, 610-paragraph SAC [complaint] tries to make up with length what it lacks in merit."

My first reaction was how much money was spent on focus groups determining the seating arrangement. Alicia Menedez gets the center seat and center shot? I mean Michael Steele was a Governor and he is the former Chair of the RNC. Shouldn't he have gotten that seat? Or would that look too much like pimp-daddy Michael Steel and his girls?
-IMHO, it will be money well-spent should MSNBC hire a stylist for Symone Sanders-(whatever). Those body hugging knit dresses that hug her every curve (fat) are not flattering. Those fake eyelashes... All of this just shows what a cow/heifer she is. Also, someone needs to dress her appropriately and control her Ta-Ta's.

I’m in need of (hopefully constructive) advice. I’m mid-forties and extremely overweight. Since the beginning of Covid lockdown in 2020, my weight has shot up, and my activity level has plummeted.
I’ve only recently realised how seriously unhealthy I am. Even just walking exhausts me. I get breathless and in pain. I need to change or I doubt I’ll see my 50th birthday.
I’m addressing my diet and cutting refined carbs, and I’m thinking about joining a gym, even though the thought of being seen exercising mortifies me.
Does anyone have any experience of taking those first steps from a sedentary lifestyle to an active lifestyle? How did you start? How do I start?

They're chipping these junkies now.
[quote]Ahead of the 2024 Mount Everest season, Nepal has announced a new requirement that all climbers must rent and use tracking chips on their journey. Reputed companies were already using them but now it’s been mandatory for all climbers. It will cut down search and rescue time in the event of an accident. Climbers will pay $10-15 apiece for the chips, which will be sewn into their jackets. Once the climber returns, the chip will be removed, given back to the government, and saved for the next person.
[quote]Last year, Nepal gave out a record 478 climbing permits. Twelve climbers were confirmed to have died on the mountain, while another five remain officially missing.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu have thanked US lawmakers after they voted in favor of new aid packages for their countries worth billions of dollars.
“Thank you, America!” Zelensky wrote on his Telegram on Saturday, shortly after the House of Representatives passed the long-delayed Ukraine Security Supplemental Appropriations Act by a vote of 311-112.
The bill was part of a wider $95 billion package providing foreign aid for Ukraine, Israel and the Indo-Pacific region. It provides nearly $61 billion to help Ukraine and others in the region fight Russia, while the House also passed funding worth $26.4 billion for Israel and $8.1 billion to counter China’s actions in the Indo-Pacific.

I was thinking today about some of the fascinating divorces of people who later went on to stardom. Many married someone before they got famous, then seemingly went for an upgrade once their career took off. What must go through the mind of someone whose spouse dumps them in such a fashion?
Examples:
Mimi Rogers, first wife of Tom Cruise. He divorced her after she taught him how to read and introduced him to Xenu.
Bridget Moynahan, longtime girlfriend of Tom Brady. He dumped her for a supermodel once he started winning Super Bowls.
Victoria Tennant, first wife of Steve Martin. She co-starred in the first of his Very Fucking Weird Movies, then disappeared and took her gorgeous Russian ballerina genes with her.
Who else is out there in the Celebrity First Wives Club?

Omar Borkan Al Gala, an Iraqi photographer, actor and model, was once labeled 'the most handsome man in the world' and 'the most handsome Arab man in the world' by the international press. Born in Baghdad on September 23, 1990, but raised in Dubai, Al Gala received international fame when he (and two other models) received attention from a crowd of girls when they were working at a festival. He said 'the religion police' did not like it, and ordered him to 'leave the festival'. He was accused of performing 'indecent dances' at the festival.
According to a police officer, "the members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vices feared that female visitors would fall in love with them." Later, the delegation of Saudi Arabia issued a statement clarifying that Borkan and the other two models were never asked to leave the country, only the festival, and that had nothing to do with being "too handsome," but was related to the unexpected presence on the stand of men, something that challenged the country's custom regarding having women not to interact with men who are not of their family.
In 2015, he married and had a son. In 2018, he split with his wife and moved to Vancouver.

The first episode was tonight. I have mixed feelings about it. The showrunner and director of the first few episodes is the superb Korean director Park Chan-wook, who did the Vengeance trilogy, The Handmaiden, and Thirst. It's visually stunning, and the evocation of 1970s Saigon is remarkable. It also stars the mixed-race actor Hoa Xuande, who is a beautiful man to watch. I also like that it shows a fascinating period of history from a very different angle than we usually get. The recreations of 1975 Saigon are spectacular. It offered a very show-offy performance by Robert Downey Jr., as a swaggering American CIA expert with bad skin and orange hair. Apparently RDJ is playing multiple roles in this, like Peter Sellers in "Dr. Strangelove." He was pretty hammy tonight. The show's interest in torture and brutality is also hard to take (though of course it's part of having a show about war and counterintelligence).
I will keep watching for sure, though. Sandra Oh is supposed to show up in later weeks.

“Ghosts” may be the unlikeliest comedy hit in recent CBS history. It’s a single-camera half-hour, adapted from a cult U.K. series, and it’s not from Chuck Lorre. Yet the show, which was just renewed for a second season, has already become a breakout for the Eye network, averaging 8.1 million viewers season-to-date, and improving its time period 15% from last year.
And that’s just on linear, where “Ghosts” is the No. 2 comedy on broadcast, behind only CBS’ “Young Sheldon.” It is also performing well on Paramount Plus, which reports that it’s the No. 1 comedy on the streamer.
“It’s the most pleasant kind of surprise,” says CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl. “Material we fell in love with, a pilot we fell in love with. It’s like most hits, nothing screamed that, ‘hey, this is gonna be a breakout hit.’ We hoped for it. We always do. But it was a little bit of a departure from what we normally do. So it’s enormously gratifying to see the show that builds a little each week, increasing audience, the delayed viewing, the streaming numbers, and just the buzz.
“It’s also gratifying to put a big four-quadrant, mass appeal hit back on broadcast TV,” Kahl adds. “It’s fun reading the tweets. We have to take it as a compliment that a lot of people are saying, ‘I can’t believe this show’s on broadcast TV.’ ”
The series stars Rose McIver and Utkarsh Ambudkar as Sam and Jay, who inherit a mansion in the countryside that they plan to turn into a B&B. But when Sam hits her head in an accident, she starts to see the ghosts from different eras who inhabit the manor, including an American Revolutionary War officer (Brandon Scott Jones), a 1920s jazz singer (Danielle Pinnock), a Viking (Devan Chandler Long), the home’s original owner Hetty (Rebecca Wisocky), a Lenape Native American (Román Zaragoza), a hippie (Sheila Carrasco), a 1980s Boy Scout leader (Richie Moriarty) and a late-’90s wolf of Wall Street (Asher Grodman).
Just like the original 2019 BBC series, “Ghosts” takes full advantage of that large ensemble, diving into each character’s backstory and the comedic give-and-take among the spooks, the “living” who can see them and Sam’s husband, who cannot. “We have a lot of very interesting characters and great actors, and that gives us a lot of places to go,” says executive producer Joe Wiseman. “We like to do stories that sometime take place in the past. Sometimes they take place in the present or a mix of the two. It really gives us an opportunity to start digging in deeper.”
CBS chief marketing officer Mike Benson says “Ghosts” is also gaining traction in social media, appealing to a younger audience that isn’t normally known for their love of content on the Eye. “The really interesting that’s happened this year is with ‘Ghosts,’ it’s got a very broad diverse audience where we not only see our core 45-plus CBS audience watching but we also are seeing teens watching,” Benson says. “TikTok is blowing up over ‘Ghosts,’ which you might scratch your head and say ‘really, CBS has a show that’s doing really well on TikTok?'”
“It’s been really gratifying,” says fellow EP Joe Port. “People are telling me that they watch it with their families. That’s awesome; you can get things on different levels.”
In some ways, “Ghosts” is a modern, sophisticated version of the high-concept premises that once dominated sitcoms like “I Dream of Jeannie.” But the producers say the fact that their lead character shares a name with Samantha of “Bewitched” is a coincidence. “Although this is a show about ghosts, we want the stories to be real,” Wiseman says. “Ultimately, the show isn’t about the supernatural: We consider the ghosts as people — they live lives, and we want to tell stories that are relatable to everyone.”
There are ghosts everywhere on “Ghosts,” but don’t expect to see a spinoff just yet. “We’re concentrating on this one right now, but yes, this does seem like something that could be franchised anywhere,” Port says.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai laid down the law to his global workforce after firing 28 workers who stormed company offices to protest the Big Tech giant’s ties to Israel.
In a heated 1,200-word memo, Pichai wrote Google “is a business, and not a place to act in a way that disrupts co-workers or makes them feel unsafe, to attempt to use the company as a personal platform, or to fight over disruptive issues or debate politics.”
“This is too important a moment as a company for us to be distracted,” he added in the memo sent late Thursday.
Pichai broke his silence two days after workers staged 10-hour sit-ins at the search giant’s offices in New York, Seatte and Sunnyvale, Calif., to attack Google’s $1.2 billion “Project Nimbus” contract with the Israel’s government as part of a “No Tech for Genocide Day of Action.”
Nine workers were arrested before Google ended up axing 28 staffers.

Mom dies and DuPont's only buffer to the real world disappears which finds him descending into darker illusions culminating with DuPont murdering his star wrestler Dave Schultz. In his will, DuPont left most of his estate to Jordanov, over half a billion in today's money.

Billy Gardell says he's "walking around pretty healthy these days" after losing more than 150 pounds.
The Bob Hearts Abishola star talked to Entertainment Tonight about the latest on his health journey since being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and undergoing gastric bypass surgery to reduce his risk of COVID-19. At his heaviest, Gardell was 370 pounds. In the nearly two years after the surgery, he said "I float between 205 and 210."
"I think you got to find peace with yourself and at some point, look in the mirror and go, 'You know, it's probably time to take care of you.' And I didn't get that note early on," he explained. "But I'm a big believer that when you get it, you get it. It doesn't matter what it is, as long as you get it."
Gardell noted that he had "chickened out" from doing the surgery twice, but ultimately felt inclined to do it at the peak of the pandemic. He wanted to address his heightened risk, as well as his earlier development of Type 2 diabetes. Most importantly, he wanted to be healthy for his son.
"When you hit 50, you start doing that dad math, like, 'If I can live 25 more years, and he'll be 40,' ... You know what I mean? So I want to be here for him," Gardell said. "I've been an example in a lot of good ways for my child, but I feel like I wasn't a good example of health for him. And so I want him to see that. It doesn't matter what age you are, if you are willing to do something a day at a time, you can change anything."
The actor noted that his evolving body continues to be a source of speculation and criticism as he exists in the public eye.
"Of course, there's always people online that, you know, when I was heavy, they were like 'You're too heavy!' And now it's like, 'Are you sick?'" he said. "Can I just walk the earth, please?"
Fortunately, he's felt an immense amount of support from the people that he works with on his current sitcom.
"One of the gifts of the show was to be able to, you know, talk to our producers and say, 'This is what I want to do' and they were incredibly supportive and they just gave little nods to it as it was happening," he explained. "The true people that were tortured here was my wardrobe guy and my makeup people. At one point, we were taping my neck back because my skin hadn’t adjusted yet and stuff, so god bless them. They got me through it. They made me look good all the way through. And it was a nice progression to have the audience watch in real time."
Gardell joked that his one complaint about his new body is that the ankles on his pants are now "too tight." He said, "I don't want to do yoga to get out of my pants. That's where I miss my fat boy pants, because you could drop them and step out like a fireman."
Jokes aside, he's happy about the potential of being a role model for others going through a similar journey.
"If you’re trying to lose weight, a day at a time is the most important thing. Sometimes an hour at a time." he said. "You know, in this life, sometimes you have to surrender. And asking for help is the thing people are most terrified about but it is the very thing where strength is born."

“ Chalamet already gets to cash in on the box office riches he spun from visiting Arrakis and a world of pure imagination. The actor earned more than $8 million for “Wonka,” according to sources. Now, he’s getting a salary bump and looking at paydays in the double digits for leading roles in studio films. Warner Bros. and Legendary don’t have a contract yet for “Dune: Part Three,” but director Denis Villeneuve has been vocal about wanting to make it, so Chalamet’s salary could surge for future installments after the success of the sequel.”

Brianna was the 15 year old male born trans girl stabbed to death in February this year that saw a wave of vigils in the UK. A male and female teenager aged 15 were charged with the murder
The UK has very strict contempt of court laws so the information presented to the jury is the first time it has been made public.
As was suspected at the time Brianna wasn't killed simply because she was trans. The 2 perps have been diagnosed with autism and had an unnatural obsession with torture and murder and the girl attempted to kill Brianna by giving her an overdose, which she recovered from.
The perps then planned to kill a boy by strangling him and stage it as him hanging himself, but they couldn't afford the rope. The girl perp had told the boy perp that she really liked Brianna and she became the next target.
Parts of the court testimony made me think of Heathers.

At her 50th birthday party on April 20, Victoria Beckham rejoined her former bandmates Geri Halliwell-Turner, Emma Bunton, Melanie "Mel C" Chisholm, Melanie “Mel B” Brown to perform the dance routine to their 1997 single “Stop” in front of thrilled party guests.
The special moment was caught on video by Victoria’s husband David Beckham, and posted by the pair on their Instagram accounts the morning after the bash, which was held at private members' club Oswald's in London.
A host of celebrities joined the group in attending Victoria’s 50th birthday party on April 20, including Tom Cruise, Jason Statham, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Gordon Ramsay, Salma Hayek-Pinault and makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury.
The Beckham family also attended the bash as Victoria and David’s children: daughter Harper, 12, and three sons Brooklyn, 25, Romeo, 21, and Cruz, 19, were pictured arriving in their formal outfits for the landmark occasion.

It was very well made and entertaining but I went in expecting that it would provide some sort of commentary on the current state of our society but it was maddeningly unspecific regarding the nuances of the situation.
Basically, the vibe was "What if the US was a chaotic war zone and nobody knew what side anyone was on" and it could have been set in any other war zone anywhere on earth over the past 50 years.
We've seen depictions of complete social breakdown in the US so many times before in Zombie and disaster movies so none of that was particularly unsettling...
For a movie that sold itself on being so urgently of our times, it said virtually nothing about our times.
That said it was a fun exciting and suspenseful ride and worth seeing. It just wasn't the "wake-up call" or whatever that the trailer was selling it as

He played the lead role of Scott Carey in the 1957 film "The Incredible Shrinking Man." Total hottie! Gorgeous eyes, beautiful hair, handsome face. The movie is a schlock classic, but if I found this three-inch-tall guy duking it out with a spider in my basement, I'd save him and keep him in my shirt pocket. I'd do anything to return him to a normal size so I could look him in the eyes while I fuck him.
He's one of those guys who looks better and better the more he looks like shit. He was a veteran of the Korean War, and died in 1985 at 53 of peritonitis. Anyone know why he didn't get more, better roles? He was kind of "discovered" by Rosalind Russell. Maybe she kept him in HER pocket (or a gilded cage at home - MEOW). Was he a sister?
For the moment, I'm obsessed.

Nico Parker, daughter of Thandiwe Newton and writer-director Ol Parker, grew up twiddling her thumbs on film sets: "There's a lot of sitting around, so I just thought it looked genuinely dull." But at the age of 11, an audition for Tim Burton's Dumbo changed everything. Now the 19-year-old is winning accolades for her Sundance breakout Suncoast, preparing to suit up for a live-action How to Train Your Dragon, and "chasing that feeling that I can't find anywhere other than when I'm surrounded by like-minded people working on set."
BORN IN LONDON, she was skeptical about Hollywood even when Newton invited her and her sister to the set of the film Retreat to watch a scene in which Newton got shot. "She did a wonderful job, but with the CGI and the fake wound, we were laughing so hard, we actually had to be escorted off."
SHE'S STILL CLOSE with her costars from HBO's smash hit The Last of Us. Pedro Pascal is "very important to me as a human being. Bella [Ramsey]'s so wonderful. We speak, always celebrating their wins-and there's a lot of them."
SHE'S STRUCK by how good her costar Laura Linney is in Suncoast-"It's maddening" —as well as her own youthful confidence. "I've been beaten down in the past two years," she jokes. "But I really like watching a 17-year-old me just going for it and showing all the colors of being a teenager."
HER FATHER AND younger brother told her over Face Time that she'd won Sundance's breakthrough performance prize. "I just started crying. I didn't even know it was a category, so it felt like the perfect way to find out." SHE'S ADJUSTING to blockbuster life on the Dragon set, thanks to a greenroom filled with chocolate. "Going from a small indie to this is slightly daunting, but I love it."
THE ULTIMATE Beyoncé fan would be too nervous to break bread with her idol, but does hope to meet Greta Gerwig- again. After seeing Barbie six times, "I joked with her that I was the reason she made a billion dollars. Then I was like, 'I didn't mean it like that. Of course you made a billion dollars...but maybe I did help you by going?'"

Seafood restaurant chain Red Lobster is mulling a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing as it looks to restructure its debt, according to people with knowledge of the matter.
Red Lobster has been getting advice from law firm King & Spalding, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing a private matter. The dining chain is considering a possible Chapter 11 filing to shed some long-term contracts and renegotiate a swath of leases, the people said.
Red Lobster's cash flows have been weighed down by onerous leases and labor costs, among other issues. Restructuring discussions are ongoing and a final decision hasn't been made, they said. Filing for bankruptcy would allow the company to keep operating while it works on a debt-cutting plan.
Messages left with Red Lobster and King & Spalding were not returned.

Hi Jake,
My 20-year-old recently came out to me as homosexual. I had a feeling something was going on because he was hiding a lot from me, and I also found some “evidence” on his computer (including your website). In some ways, I’m relieved, because I knew something was off between us.
That said, I was raised in a family where homosexuality is highly discouraged. We are church people, and it’s challenging for me to divorce myself from that way of thinking. I’m trying my best, and learning from my son in the process. He tells me that he’s always felt this way, and that being gay is not his choice. While I’m still wrapping my head around it, I’m getting there.
One issue I struggle most with, however, is that it’s hard to imagine him having sexual relations with another man if he’s the submissive partner. I realize I might be overstepping, but it would help me come to terms with his new identity if at least I knew he was the masculine, dominant one. I don’t like thinking about him in another way.
Is it okay to tell my son that I accept him being gay, as long as he isn’t the passive one in the bedroom? I think that would make it easier for me to come to terms with all this.
Father Figure(ing things out)

For some time now, fans have been worried about Hugh Jackman after his odd social media posts of random objects, selfies, and cryptic comments. Many people wonder if he’s okay, and insiders claim this odd activity may have something to do with his separation from Deborra-Lee Furness.
“He’s clearly trying to get attention, but it’s coming off as strange and unprofessional. If Deb were around, she’d never let him embarrass himself this way,” the source said. “He doesn’t seem to have the time for his old crowd and they feel they’ve been ditched right along with Deb.” While the comment may seem more mean-spirited, the root of the issue is that many are worried that he’s isolating from his pals.
The source added, “He tells people he’s thriving — and to his credit he has managed to get out there and enjoy a few dates and have plenty of fun — but his behavior is still pretty odd and erratic these days. Between the self-obsessed social media posts and the fact that he’s started partying with people half his age, it’s sounding alarm bells for a lot of his old friends.”

Apparently, this was shunted from Max to Netflix earlier this year. It's technically a spinoff of Doom Patrol, although the leads were recast. The comic it's based on is a Sandman spinoff, and Neil Gaiman has said one of the Endless (I assume Kirby Howell-Baptiste's Death, although he was vague) will show up.
Jayden Revri who plays Rowland (who was played by DL Icon Sebastian Croft on Doom Patrol) gives some baby gay vibes, and DL Icon Lukas Gage has a recurring role.

Workers at the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, Tenn., have voted overwhelmingly to join the United Auto Workers, setting a new trajectory for labor unions in the American South.
With 3,613 ballots counted, the final tally was 2,628 votes in favor of joining the UAW, and 985 votes against. Some 73% of workers voted in favor of unionizing.
The UAW pulled off the resounding victory after two prior defeats in a region deeply skeptical of unions and despite repeated warnings from state Republican leaders and the business community that unionizing would be a big mistake.

On Thursday, Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia shook hands on a massive bet. Each boxer would owe the other $500,000 for every pound they were over the 140-pound contracted weight for their super lightweight fight Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
At the weigh-in on Friday, as Garcia stepped on the scale, he guzzled what appeared to be a beer. On a video he shared on X, formerly Twitter, Garcia wrote that it was "100 percent worth it." But he later posted a message that said, "Apple Juice and sparkling water HEHE."
What was indisputable: Garcia weighed in at 143.2 pounds.
There was no such drama with Haney, who weighed in at 140 pounds and later indicated he was $1.5 million richer.
“Ryan honored the 500k per pound,’’ Haney posted.

He also highlighted the importance of faith in their marriage.
Last year, Quaid told "Extra," "God is in my wife and I's relationship, and it's another thing that I never really had before."
"She and I have such a beautiful relationship, and we pray together," he added.
In addition to keeping his marriage strong, Quaid also credits his faith for his ongoing sobriety.
Last year, he told People magazine that he had a "white light" moment, where he knew he needed to turn his life around.
"I remember going home and having kind of a white light experience that I saw myself either dead or in jail or losing everything I had, and I didn't want that," Quaid told the outlet.
Now, as he told Fox News Digital, "These days, it's a breeze," though he admitted there were about four years of "gritting my teeth."
"And then it just got [to the point] of finding something to fill that hole. For me, that's God, [He] fills that hole. There's life after everything. These days I’m more thankful than anything else and just enjoying every day," he said, adding with a laugh, "Still here!"

Move over, Taylor Swift !
36 years ago today, Barbra Streisand released her third live album in her career (a rarity since she stopped doing live concerts some 15 years prior) called "One Voice", which was recorded in her backyard on September 6, 1986. Gays and other Streisand fans were lined up in record stores with the vinyl album, cassette, and CD in their hands ready to pay and get home and listen to the whole blessed event. We squealed in delight when she sang two Harold Arlen songs she never recorded before - 'Over the Rainbow' and 'It's A New World'. We gasped when she revealed she was researching material for an upcoming album she was planning to do on songs from movies (it wouldn't happen for another 16 years).
The album debuted on the Hot 100 Album Charts at #9, and stayed on the chart for 28 weeks. Critics and fans raved about the recording, saying it was one of the best live albums ever recorded. It was awarded Gold status from the RIAA in August, 1987 and Platinum status in February, 1988. The concert was televised on HBO, and later released on VHS and DVD.

I watched it the first time in the theater and last night at home streaming. It is an amazing movie and I got so much more of the subtle details and foreboding references this time. The intimate, conversational scenes are so beautiful - the actors are terrific and I paid attention more to Andrew Scott and his unspoken expressions and conveyances - he deserved all awards. The movie has such a mood to it, it’s heavy and dark and sad but somehow quite beautiful as well. I was emotionally spent afterwards. Definitely one of my favorite films.

I’ve finished watching the first part of the Paul Simon documentary. He still seems bitter about Art Garfunkel. He even goes so far as to say that while he was managing the musicians in the studio, Art was sitting in the control booth. But Paul wrote all their songs, Art was just a singer. Also, Art seems to be very laid back.
Paul probably blames Art for the breakup of S&G, but Paul went on to experiment with other types of music and has been very successful.
On the other hand, Paul’s mother told him that Art had a better voice than Paul, so that probably didn’t help matters.

Maulik Pancholy’s appearance at Mountain View Middle School in Mechanicsburg was unanimously overturned by the district’s school board in an 8-0 vote.
Openly gay actor Maulik Pancholy was disinvited from speaking at a middle school anti-bullying assembly after concerns were raised about his political activism and what two school board members called his “lifestyle.”
Pancholy’s scheduled appearance at Mountain View Middle School in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, was unanimously overturned by the district’s school board in a public meeting on April 15.
“If you research this individual, he labels himself as an activist, he is proud of his lifestyle and I don’t think that should be imposed upon our students at any age,” board member Bud Shaffner said at the meeting.
Trisha Comstock, a former parent at the school, started a Change.org petition to reinstate the empathy and anti-bullying assembly.
“What happened is homophobic. Anyone can go and watch the meeting,” Comstack tells TODAY.com. “This board is close to causing some real harm.”
Board member Kelly Potteiger raised concerns that Pancholy, 50, would discuss his children’s book “The Best at It,” which is about a gay Indian American boy.
“It’s not discriminating against his lifestyle — that’s his choice,” Potteiger said in the meeting. “But it’s him speaking about it.”
Pancholy played the character Jonathan, Alex Baldwin’s devoted assistant, in the sitcom “30 Rock,” and also voiced the character Baljeet in “Phineas and Ferb.”
Pancholy’s presentation on anti-bullying at Mountain View Middle School was canceled by an 8-0 vote. TODAY.com has reached out to Pancholy for comment.
Brooke Ryerson, an LGBTQ high school sophomore, attended Mountain View Middle School. Ryerson and her mom plan to express their disappointment at the next board meeting on May 6.
“It was going to be an assembly about empathy and anti-bullying,” Ryerson, 16, tells TODAY.com. “But that doesn’t matter to the board. They want to silence us in any way they can.”
The “us” that Ryerson is referring to is the gay community.
“They’re sending that message that they don’t want our identities in the school,” Ryerson says. “I’m lucky that I have such accepting friends and family, but it’s gotta be devastating for the kids who don’t and now feel even more like they’re not wanted somewhere.”
How the school board decided
According to Pancholy’s website, the award-winning author delivers keynotes on the topic of “diversity and inclusion.” Pancholy is a self-described activist and served on President Barack Obama’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
Shaffner tells TODAY.com in a phone interview that he had concerns that Pancholy would “go off script” and talk about politics.
“Politically motivated discussions belong at home and not in the classroom,” Shaffner says. “A number of board members went to his website and what stuck out to all of us is that he’s a political activist.”

This craptastic series stars real actress Marcia Gay Harden and yet it's written for and performed to the peanut gallery. If it is even written by a person, and not second string A.I.

I'm not going to post a MARY!!!!, but I really miss my mom. Every day, something happens that I wish I could tell her, talk to her about, commiserate over, etc. Or I'll hear a song she liked and think of her.
Does one ever really get over losing a mother?
(And my mom is, technically, still alive, but in late-stage Alzheimer's. The person who was my mother is long gone.)

The 1976 Yuba City bus disaster. On May 21, 1976 a bus carrying members of the a cappella choir from yuba city high school crashed into a bridge before falling 21 feet of the elevated highway landing on its roof. Of the 52 passengers 28 students and one teacher was killed. The cause being the failure of the air brakes on the bus and the driver confusing the oil pressure and air pressure warnings on the 26 year old bus.

2) the ubers were expensive
3) there were homeless people everywhere
4) it was dirty
5) the big attractions seemed like tourist traps

Eldergays, have you adjusted your daily routine based upon the threat of crime or violence? For myself I have a 9:00 p.m. cut off for leaving the house unless it's a pre-planned thing. If I'm going into the city I always shoot to go in the morning earlier than 11:00 a.m. if possible. I no longer take public transportation. It would be very rare for me to attend any large festival style event with thousands of people gathered in one place . I know it's a recipe for loneliness but self preservation is key. What adjustments have you made? I live in a relatively safe suburban area 8 Miles away from a city known for its crime and violence.

Believes the allegations are the result of Mia Farrow’s brainwashing.
Bill Maher went in hard for Woody Allen, saying flatly he doesn't believe the sexual abuse allegations and thinks actors who won't work with him are "pu**ies."
Bill was chatting it up with Katie Couric on his 'Club Random' podcast when Allen's name came up. Maher said, "I respect the artist and the man," and then he bore in on the long-standing allegations that Allen sexually abused Dylan, his adopted daughter when she was 7.
Bill believes the story was engineered by Mia Farrow to gain an advantage in their bitter divorce, saying Farrow was motivated by vindictiveness.
As Maher sees it, "If you saw the documentary about it, it was all from her point of view. So first of all, I just flat-out believe him. I believe a 57-year-old man didn’t suddenly become a child molester in the middle of a divorce proceeding and a custody battle in a house full of adults in broad daylight."
Katie challenged him, saying there was "some pretty damning" evidence, including Allen's desire for his girlfriends to "dress up in little anklets and Mary Janes and baby doll dresses."
Bill's response, "Do you think he’s the only guy who likes that? Do you think he's the first guy who wanted his girlfriend to dress in anklets and baby doll [dresses]?"
As Maher sees it, "That's what we grew up on, that’s what we find sexy."
Allen, who married Mia's adopted daughter Soon-Yi Previn, has never been charged with a crime and denied all the allegations.

She has referred me to a hematologist, which is the same thing as an ONCOLOGIST! HOLY FUCK! No explanation, no call, just a text from the stupid health chart crap I have to use online. Paul Carafotes was born on March 23, 1959 in Somerville, Massachusetts to Greek parents. After he graduated from High School he decided he wanted to get into acting, and landed his first role in the film “Headin’ For Broadway” in 1980, at 20 years old. After that he starred in the film “Choices” with Demi Moore, which was her debut role. He landed a few films, such as “All The Right Moves”, “Blind Date” and “Journey to the Center of the Earth” as well as many guest spots on tv shows before landing what would be the role he is best known for, playing Harold Dyer on Knots Landing.
He played Harold on Knots Landing for 40 episodes. After that he did mostly tv movies and guest spots on tv shows as well as plays. He wrote plays as well as starred in a few and directed a few also.
From Wikipedia:
“Carafotes won an L.A. Drama Critics Award for writing the play "Beyond the Ring", in which he also starred and was nominated for best actor. He has won multiple awards including the audience award at the Beverly Hills Film Festival for writing, producing and directing the supernatural fantasy short film, "Club Soda". In 2006 Carafotes wrote, directed and produced the short film, Club Soda, edited into Stories USA. In 2010, Carafotes returned to acting in the Emmy award-winning series Damages.“
I remember seeing him on Knots and finding him odd looking but sexy at the same time. I guess I was not that into the Greek look while also finding it kinda hot. Anyone else remember him?

Margrethe II, the 83-year-old queen of Denmark, saved the biggest surprise of the year for last. Hours before 2023 came to an end, on a live television broadcast, she announced her abdication.
“In 14 days, I will have been Denmark’s queen for 52 years,” she said in an address to the nation, wearing a regal purple dress. “Time takes its toll, and ailments increase. One no longer manages the same things as before.” A back operation last February, she confessed, had made her ponder “whether it was time to pass on the responsibility to the next generation”.
It was a bombshell to make her subjects drop their Lego and put down their bacon sandwiches. As the longest-serving monarch in Europe and the only ruling queen in the world, Margrethe is a matriarch who has presided over half a century of peace and prosperity with a relaxed and inclusive style. She chain-smokes and has been known to do her own supermarket shopping. Journalist Tine Gøtzsche noted that the departing queen “is to us what Queen Elizabeth was to you”.
The void that she leaves will be filled by Crown Prince Frederik and his Scottish-Australian wife, Mary – a woman whose passage to the throne so echoes that of our own Princess of Wales that they have been described as “royal sisters”.
Every indicator suggests Frederik will continue with his mother’s laid-back approach. He has had time enough to prepare for the job, albeit not as long as our own King Charles. Princes of Denmark have been known to tend towards gloominess, but Frederik is a warm, popular figure, with a salt-and-pepper beard and a refreshing lack of airs and graces.
“He is already a star among many Danes,” says Gitte Redder, the co-author of Frederik: Crown Prince of Denmark, a biography of the incoming king. “By nature he is open-minded, curious and down to earth. With Crown Princess Mary he has already set the agenda on sustainability, medicine and human rights, and the royal couple has ambitions that the monarchy should also be relevant, useful and have value for young generations in the future.
“Even before becoming king, he has been nicknamed the Frogman King, the Rock ’n’ Roll King, the Sportsman King and the Green King,” she adds. In an interview for her book, Frederik told Redder that he and Mary, “don’t just want to be driven around waving nicely to the crowds from a carriage.” He added that “the bottom line is that we must never stop developing and the royal house must continue to be a meaningful institution that the Danes are proud of and support.”
He has not always looked cut out for the gig. Born in Copenhagen on May 26 1968, the eldest of two sons of Margrethe and her husband, Prince Henrik, who died in 2018, Frederik was just three when he became Crown Prince, when his mother ascended the throne in 1972. Privately educated in France and Denmark, as a teenager he had a reputation for enjoying the high life, resenting his parents for their absence on royal duties and consoling himself with fast cars and hanging out with celebrities in nightclubs. Princes Andrew and Harry might empathise.
Frederik started to settle down when he went to Aarhus University for a degree in political science, as part of which he spent a year at Harvard. He enrolled in the US college under a fake name, Frederik Henriksen, in an attempt to avoid the limelight. It was at university that he developed his interest in green causes, a helpful thing for a royal to have on his CV in eco-conscious Denmark.
He is also made for PE. Like many British royals have, Frederik found meaning and purpose in a military career after he graduated – he trained in all three branches of the Danish armed forces. On a navy diving exercise he once found his wetsuit filled up with water, forcing him to waddle like a penguin and earning him the nickname “Pingo”. He was a competitive sailor, racing Finn and Dragon boats, and is fond of a physical challenge.

Restaurateur Keith McNally, who's no stranger to controversial Instagram posts, has made a habit out of insulting celebrities. And his latest target is Lauren Sánchez, the fiancée of one of the most powerful people in the world, Jeff Bezos.
McNally, who owns more than a dozen restaurants including NYC's famed Balthazar, wrote a seemingly out-of-the-blue Instagram post attacking Sánchez and Bezos on Monday.
"Does anybody else find Jeff Bezos' New wife — Lauren Sanchez — ABSOLUTELY REVOLTING?" he wrote in the original post, accompanied by a series of pictures of the couple, according to The Cut. "What an ugly and Fucking SMUG - LOOKING couple they make. Is this what having 1000 Billion dollars does to people?"
In 2022, McNally had an infamous beef with TV personality and host of "The Late Late Show," James Corden.
In 2023, McNally attacked the singer-songwriter Adele on Instagram, calling her appearance on Corden's "Carpool Karaoke" segment "profoundly inauthentic," "sickening," and "HORSE SHIT."

He admits to cheating on first wife Robin Strasser quite often, including several sexual encounters with men.
His second marriage to Lucie Arnaz has been rocky at times and he had a very contentious relationship with mother-in-law Lucille Ball.
He devotes many pages to the stage and film productions of The Boys in the Band.
His account of the filming of “Such Good Friends” and the rantings of director Otto Preminger is hilarious.
He was on the short list for “Get Smart”, but lost the role of Maxwell Smart to Don Adams.
Now nearly 90, he’s fully aware his time is limited.

Raised by his grandparents after he was abandoned by his parents, he enlisted in the Army before studying at Denison, where he graduated with honors and created a successful one man show on Mark Twain.
Soon, Ed Sullivan was calling to put "the Twain kid on," and his career skyrocketed. Ten years later, he was tired of being on tour and quickly finessed himself to become a capable film actor, appearing in films such as The Great White Hope, All the President's Men, Julia, Capricorn One, Wall Street, The Firm, Lincoln, and Into the Wild, where he earned an Oscar nomination.

This could be very good or very bad.
Some very good camp performances have come from actors not naturally inclined to it (Bruce Willis in “Death Becomes Her”, Matthew McConaughey in “Magic Mike”, Guy Pearce in “Priscilla”) who cannot really calibrate the subtleties, so they close their eyes, slam their foot on the pedal and hope to reach 100 mph without killing anybody. It works or it doesn’t (if anyone can think of any in the latter category, I haven’t had coffee yet.)
The movie also stars Alex Pettyfer in his seventh or eighth comeback role, Cary Elwes who does nothing but camp these days (and is very good at it), and Alan Ritchson’s calves.
