Sleeping Beauties looks like a bore

The thesis of uniting works too fragile to be worn doesn’t seem to work with the gowns sitting like museum pieces which is how we see them every year

It recalls the Costume room at the Academy of Motion Pictures Museum where disparate costumes like the flower robe from Midsommar and Queen Anne’s gown from The Favourite are displayed alongside each other

Everyone understands the gowns are fragile

Using these computer animations to show how they move is a disappointing attempt at simulation; sort of like watching a computer animation of a Greek amphora 🏺 pouring wine. Maybe they should have just recreated the pieces and have a moving mannequin wear them.

Seems skippable coming on the heels of the spectacular Lagerfeld show
