"Diss Tracks" are so ghetto.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | May 4, 2024 8:55 PM |
Diss track...dat track.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | May 4, 2024 8:56 PM |
Team no one.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | May 4, 2024 9:03 PM |
These rappers are bitchier than a couple of old DL queens engaged in a flame war in a thread about Helen Lawson.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | May 4, 2024 9:06 PM |
This reminds me of All Star Wrestling from back in the day.
There was The Crusher, The Claw, Black Jack Lanza and they all had scores to settle and it was all fake.

Maybe he’ll win another Pulitzer for this sparkling gem of literature?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | May 4, 2024 9:11 PM |
Drake dindu nuffin.

You guys are so white and gay lol.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 4, 2024 10:24 PM |
Here's your chance to educate us, r10.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 4, 2024 10:34 PM |
R10 I'll take white and gay over black and ghetto
by Anonymous | reply 12 | May 4, 2024 10:36 PM |
r10 Hilarious to witness, isn't it?
r12 Most gays live in a ghetto, also. Gays have their own "ghetto" slang. A ghetto is just a homogeneous community. So, slow your roll. Most gays, too, are ghetto. And "fabulous." You're ghetto fabulous!
by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 4, 2024 10:37 PM |
R11 Who cares? Battle rap has been around since the 1970s. If you don’t know by now, you never will.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 4, 2024 10:41 PM |
R13, learn the difference between role and roll before you try to tell anyone about anything.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 4, 2024 10:41 PM |
The last time a diss track went out against Drake, he "gained" a son and was absolutely murdered by Pusha T. He should probably sit this one out.

by Anonymous | reply 17 | May 4, 2024 10:44 PM |
R12 You couldn’t lick the bottom of these guys boots. You don’t have their black ghetto money.
And calling Drake “ghetto” being a white-raised biracial who was a child TV actor from Canada just exposes your racism.
But go on, talk about how white and superior you are over “ghetto” millionaires
by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 4, 2024 10:44 PM |
Let’s all just ignore the fact that these diss tracks are mostly guys calling each other homos.

^ Sounds like Kendrick is basically just airing out Drake's dirty laundry, to me.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 4, 2024 11:05 PM |
Kendrick just dropped another track.
Drake has been cremated.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 5, 2024 12:38 AM |
Definitely pointless bitchery, but without the psychotic edge that makes DL such a special place.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 5, 2024 12:52 AM |
r28 I don't know about pointless bitchery. Kendrick is airing out laundry marred with Diddy-sized stains. Just saying.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | May 5, 2024 1:04 AM |
They have both run out of things to rap about.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | May 5, 2024 1:06 AM |
r27 "Trying to strike a chord and it's probably A minor." After that bar from Not Like Us, yeah, he's cooked.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | May 5, 2024 1:08 AM |
Nobody axed for this.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | May 5, 2024 1:27 AM |
Drake accused Kendrick of not releasing his reply because he didn’t want it to be swamped by the release of The Tortured Poets Department (well, no one knew it would suck then).
When Kendrick did respond, his track was produced by Jack Antonoff, Swift’s producer.
I love it.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | May 5, 2024 1:28 AM |

Kendrick is conscious, like Common. Though he did suggest Drake had a BBL.

by Anonymous | reply 37 | May 5, 2024 1:32 AM |
Kendrick said Drake and his associates are “dick riders”, R36….
by Anonymous | reply 39 | May 5, 2024 1:33 AM |
r39 Umm...that's hood slang for "brown noser" or "kiss up." Even Beyonce has a line in the song "Apeshit" where she says "get off my dick." It's something you say to imply someone is a kiss-ass.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | May 5, 2024 1:41 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 42 | May 5, 2024 1:44 AM |
R40 Yeah, the nerd writing in the Guardian didn’t know that either.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | May 5, 2024 1:46 AM |
Who are all these people going on about Drake’s dick? It’s not even big.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | May 5, 2024 1:48 AM |
Drake had a Brazilian Butt Lift?
by Anonymous | reply 45 | May 5, 2024 2:03 AM |
Sheepishly I enjoy a good diss track, but would never admit it.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | May 5, 2024 2:39 AM |
See what Katt Williams started with his Club Shay Shay interview?
Everybody's tryin to outdo Katt.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | May 5, 2024 2:48 AM |
Advantage Kendrick. There's some pointed commentary in these. Not Like Us is better than any of the Drake ones.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | May 5, 2024 5:34 AM |
I like Drake, but he's not totally keeping up!

by Anonymous | reply 53 | May 5, 2024 6:12 AM |
ssentially the beef has now come down to Kendrick being accused of domestic abuse and having an illegitimate son and Drake being a pedophile and hiding another child (which he is denying on social media). Obviously, theres more to it, but the winner will be decided by whos got receipts. Lose lose situation for both sides, its ugly.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | May 5, 2024 6:15 AM |
r54 Kendrick very likely has receipts. Drake? Not so much.

by Anonymous | reply 58 | May 5, 2024 11:09 AM |
Drakes song is homophobic. He has a line in it about only the Pride boys liking Lamar’s shit.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | May 5, 2024 12:14 PM |
Drake is a laughing stock and his not writing a word of his songs is back to bite him. He’s over.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | May 5, 2024 12:14 PM |
Drake is still not over Rihanna.
Sad.

That’s not it. It’s not what this is about - well maybe it is for Aubrey, but not for Kendrick. In Meet The Grahams, Kendrick lays it out: he doesn’t like Drake, who he is, what he stands for and what he does. This started with Kendrick being included by J. Cole in a Top 3 with Drake. Drake is coming back with you’re a a hater, you’re jealous, you don’t have as much money. Kendrick is saying that’s not it, it’s not being a hater. It’s pure loathing and disgust for him a person.

by Anonymous | reply 69 | May 5, 2024 4:29 PM |
I know nothing about rap, but Drake is by far the bigger star, right?
He's like the Taylor, I guess? Huge but a lot of people don't like or understand his success?
So what does that make Kendrick? Gaga? Talented but not as popular? Or more like Adele? Or Lana Del Rey? Beyonce?
by Anonymous | reply 70 | May 5, 2024 5:49 PM |
This is just like Hamilton v. Aaron Burr!
by Anonymous | reply 71 | May 5, 2024 6:51 PM |
R70 I guess using your metric, Kendrick is Lana/Adele, with more political socio-political commentary.
Though even in this case, Drake only has maybe 4 Grammys. Taylor has 4 Album Of The Year Grammys alone. Plus she very recently tongue-bathing reviews because she weaponises everything possible to make critics and the industry terrified to look funny at her. She is a much harder nut than Drake.
And Kendrick Lamar has 17 Grammys and from fewer albums than Drake plus a Pulitzer.
Maybe Drake is Gloria Estefan and Kendrick is Nina Simone?
by Anonymous | reply 72 | May 5, 2024 7:15 PM |
Think of Kendrick as rap’s answer to Norman Mailer.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | May 5, 2024 7:44 PM |

Is this what it was like to witness the Bette and Joan feud unfold in real time?
by Anonymous | reply 78 | May 5, 2024 9:11 PM |
Why don't they just slap each other across the face with a silken glove.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | May 5, 2024 9:48 PM |
Kendrick is winning. He's just a better rapper. Drake falls back on a sing-song-y thing he does..rhymes are a little weak. He defaults to talking about no.1 records and coming at Kendrick for doing a song with Taylor Swift. Kendrick meanwhile is reading him for filth from all angles.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | May 6, 2024 12:07 AM |
r80 I'm still recovering from Not Like Us.
The lyrics...
by Anonymous | reply 81 | May 6, 2024 12:25 AM |
The screenshot of Drake's house is actually supposed to mimic the apps and sites you use to find the location of registered sex offenders in your neighborhood. Apparently, Kendrick is saying a bunch of registered sex offenders are at Drake's mansion in Toronto.

r65 After the latest drop, I'm convinced this is exactly what he did.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | May 6, 2024 8:19 AM |
I can’t believe how bad these two clowns are. The music is unmissable and the lyrics sound like a 3 year old wrote them. They must suck some incredible dick to get where they are. Isn’t Drake from some rich family in Canada or something?
by Anonymous | reply 90 | May 6, 2024 9:13 AM |
This entire thing was planned. They had all the songs ready. It’s a marketing gimmick.

by Anonymous | reply 92 | May 6, 2024 9:25 AM |
The last Drake song is OK. Doesn't sound like his heart's in it. He's tapping out, waving the white flag, ready for a nap.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | May 6, 2024 2:53 PM |
It's easy to say it's all bad if it's all unfamiliar. R90 Should listen to the Kendrick song Euphoria. I'm no hiphop expert but have like a sit down with the song on headphones or something. Then you might see or admire the wordplay, the changes in cadence, etc, the art of it.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | May 6, 2024 3:05 PM |
Drake isn’t on offense, he’s on defense, addressing what Lamar set forth in Not One of Us.
Advantage Lamar
by Anonymous | reply 95 | May 6, 2024 3:15 PM |
When the dust settles I'll still be hearing lines like "once a lame, always a lame", "I hate the way that you walk, the way that you talk, I hate the way that you dress" and "OV-Ho" like a sweet memory.
by Anonymous | reply 96 | May 6, 2024 3:21 PM |
Not Like Us has New York dancing. Beef or no beef, it's a BOP.
by Anonymous | reply 97 | May 6, 2024 3:26 PM |

r91 Freestyling exists. That's how most live rap battles go. All they have to do is hit up a producer and ask them for some beats and then go to town. That's how Kendrick has been able to release his tracks so quickly. He's a better freestyler than Drake who not only uses ghostwriters, but also used AI in one of his latest diss tracks.
by Anonymous | reply 98 | May 6, 2024 4:16 PM |
I've actually liked a lot of Drake songs. Some of his hits are really fun. I could get into him as a character. Maybe taking a step back for a moment!

The parodies and memes this beef has spawned are becoming more entertaining than the actual beef at this point.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | May 7, 2024 3:56 AM |
Drake is boppy. Lamar is conscious. They're really not in the same category of hip-hop. It's the equivalent of Beyonce and Erykah Badu. They both have their place in the zeitgeist of 00's music., but Drake has more money than GOD and that pisses EVERYBODY off.
Personally, I fuck with Drake more than Lamar because as Drake says, "Kendrick raps like he's freeing slaves" and I have to be in the mood for that. Lemar, I would play in my office while I'm working. Drake, I would play while I'm running errands.
I mean... both guys are smart and savvy enough to keep this "Feud" going because it's the most interesting thing to happen in hip-hop in forever and everybody makes money from it.
by Anonymous | reply 103 | May 7, 2024 11:54 AM |
I thought “conscious” meant that you cared about the community. I don’t think being the blackness police counts as conscious or even political. Everything is sex and petty personal shit with him, not politics.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | May 7, 2024 1:17 PM |
I always gravitated to Drake more as someone who doesn't regularly listen to hiphop. They do have different styles but a close listen to both sets of songs reveals Kendrick's superior talent. Drake got smoked hard. He's literally out of steam on this last one, The Heart Pt. 6 clinging desperately to this rhyme scheme. "I'm way too famous for this shit you just suggested"? What?!?
by Anonymous | reply 106 | May 7, 2024 2:02 PM |
As good rappers aren't they supposed to have hit men kill the other? Preferably soon.
by Anonymous | reply 107 | May 7, 2024 3:01 PM |
[quote]"Kendrick raps like he's freeing slaves" and I have to be in the mood for that.
r103 False. Drake is a very one-note rapper whereas Kendrick can be both conscious and make a track just to vibe to. He's a far more versatile rapper than Drake. Swimming Pools would be an example of a "vibe to" record. He's also good when featured on other rap artist tracks meant solely for the purposes of the club. Collard Greens comes to mind.

Kendrick Lamar Duckworthy and Aubrey Drake Graham ought to be facing off with pistols at dawn and seconds.
Kendrick’s references have gone off. Apart from using a Jack Antonoff beat for 6:16, he also used an Al Green song that Drake’s uncle played guitar on.
