No, Harry Potter isn't ruined. The franchise still mints money, and most people don't know or care that JK Rowling is supposedly a terf. Most people are completely unfamiliar with that word, in fact - unless it has a "u" and is preceded by the words "surf and..."

No one is stopping you from reading Harry Potter, OP. You can come ask DL for help if you encounter any words you don't understand. Books without pictures can be intimidating but I bet you can handle it. Good luck.
